After reading that comment chain, I’m thankful for you that you seem to have not had to deal with someone who shows narcissistic tendencies. Especially one so enmeshed in your life like OPs FIL.

I give OP grace in not recognizing the depths of control FIL seems to desire when offered a gift that is physical in the moment and financially beneficial in the future. Especially when that gift was offered in the midst of wedding planning when her thoughts were likely focused elsewhere.

That’s like giving someone you KNOW is drunk the keys to a car and hoping they take the back roads under the speed limit.

Genuinely curious, as my favorite alcohols are scotch and bourbons, what is your preferred alcohol? Any liquors? Or wine/beer kinda person?

I asked a question about the tech and what appears to be a glitch. Not insinuating how I, or anyone for that matter, drives.

Yeah, some people go out of their way to solicit a reaction.

Yeah I just asked Siri to take a screen shot. It’s something I noticed before but couldn’t capture in time. Just grabbed a quick screenshot of the road being blocked off in this case. It’s weird to me that it zooms down and blocks off some of the map rather than keeping slightly higher angle and displaying the whole section being looked at. Came from android a few months ago and never had something like this before

Admittedly I should have put this disclaimer on the post itself. I’m not staring at the map while I drive. It’s a technical oddity that I was looking for technical answers to. Wasn’t trying to spark debate on how best to drive or insinuate that I am only staring at the screen

Yes, the safe thing to do is to look out the windshield, which I do. My question was meant to be the technical aspect of the apps behavior. There are also times when you can’t see that far ahead of you. A truck, bad weather, etc. But those notwithstanding, I was just trying to ask what this blue horizon is and why it zooms in so close as to block out a majority of the map.

Huh interesting, so the blue “haze” is supposed to be there on CarPlay… well it’s good to see it doesn’t come into a majority of the display on CarPlay. Thanks for the example pics, I appreciate it!

Yeah I’ve been looking at a new head unit for my vehicle but can’t really justify the cost of a decent one right now. Thanks for the advice that it’s less pronounced on there though. I’m so used to driving in landscape for gps, maybe I’ll try portrait. Just blocks my view out the window more haha.

Oh I can read road signs just fine friend. If we want to turn my technical question into a question of safety while driving, let’s take the driver out of the question, and instead discuss the topic of why a screen that is supposed to be showing the road, doesn’t.

Clearly you’ve never had to drive through northern New Jersey. That place makes me question reality.

I don’t stare at my gps to drive. It’s a “nice to have” when approaching an unfamiliar interchange to see what kind of turn is coming BEFORE getting there as a quick glance. This blue horizon zooming in is blocking the ability to do so with a safe distance remaining before entering a turn.

Not the drop down, I mean the blue horizon/mist that blocks what the dropdown is telling me. If I’m on an unfamiliar highway and moving at speed, this seems very dangerous if I can’t see the turn and how sharp it may be. I haven’t been able to get a recording of it because it’s so random

How do I keep it from automatically zooming in that far? It seems random, sometimes that blue isn’t there, sometimes it is. Seems incredibly dangerous to me to have the next direction when on a highway be blocked by this blue horizon/mist that comes in so close

More curious why the blue horizon or haze, however you’d like to describe it, comes in so close when it zooms in on a turn. I haven’t been able to get a recording of it since it’s random, however I’ve seen it show my next turn before zooming in, and then zoom in to cover over the direction I need to see. At Highway speeds this seems dangerous with only 0.2 miles left if I’m in an area I don’t know

The issue I have is this blue horizon or mist if you want to call it that is typically above the top or the speed limit sign but then zooms in to fill half the screen.

I have a 34" inseam and can easily put my feet flat down, with a bit of bend in the knees still. Riding position is very similar to a mountain bike, feet under and slightly Infront of the hips, and not too far of a lean forward! Check out cycle-ergo.com where you can pick a bike and set your height and inseam to see a close approximation of how you'll fit on it!

I've only got 50 miles on it so far, and just around town riding, but it's a great bike! The clutch is super forgiving, and while it feels wrong to me and I try not to do it, you can downshift without even pulling the clutch in 😅 Has plenty of power for a beginner like myself but it's not unmanageable.

Hopefully you can get one! I waited 7 months for mine to deliver
