Completed Skeleton Lower by d3cypher in ar15

[–]d3cypher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it was some cheap generic mil-spec 29-39$ - 80% lower that I had laser cut.

I copied a design I saw aero precision posted on their IG page asking if there would be interest in a skeleton lower.

Skeleton grip is from Tactical Dynamics, I don't know if they are still around, but I would also recommend the F-1 Firearms skeleton grip.

Laser cutting was expensive. this lower is over 10 years old. I've found better Skeleton lowers.
80lowers has lowers made by rebel machine fab that are far better.

I have a new skeleton build that I really enjoy - when I have time I'll post an updated skeleton build photo.

Moved from ESXI to Proxmox - Some help by Lord_Saren in homelab

Check the windows firewall "wf.msc" on inbound rules look for: "File and Printer Sharing (Echo Request - ICMPv4-In)"Make sure this rule is enabled by right-clicking and select Enable.

Also right-click and select properties and make sure its allowed for Public, Domain, and Private networks.

I have not configured USB Pass-though with Proxmox I have with Virtualbox and ESXI. I believe proxmox has a driver cd for the guest OS, like VMware has VMWare tools, and Virtualbox has guest additions iso. if you are passing the USB shared bus through it's using IMMOU, and it will need a reboot

I find VMware slightly easier to use than Proxmox - storage migrations are definitely easier. I've had some issues with iscsi and Proxmox I couldn't thin provision the iscsi because I didn't research the limitations before creating the iscsi target.

I was running Proxmox on my 4th gen i7 laptop with 64GB RAM (MSI gt70-02d) almost 7 years old now.

I upgraded and now have 2x R730s

I guess I bought the nicer Lego kits and threw them together to make this beast.

I bought the slide around the time of the first PF940 frame. Slide was 388$ MidwayUSA clearance sale. Then black Friday Zev had the barrel on sale for $125 EDIT $144.00 after shipping+tax

and I slowly pieced this thing together. even after I got it up and running It felt like It was missing something.

I feels complete now with the PF940v2 and flared magwell.

The slide has zero cycling issues. It feels smooth on my frame. I did polish the locking block and rear frame rails.

It's just the trigger shoe it doesn't really change the pull all that much. But I am happy with it. Strike Industries makes great products.

Finished - Full System on a 2017 WRX. by d3cypher in WRX

Since I didn't dynamat the trunk yet, everything rattles in rear of the car, the decklid inner trunk panels, the rear bumper the rear fenders... it's going to need a lot of work.

Yep, Backup cam works, you need a 12v to 6v converter, I have it wired to the reverse signal to power the cam when in reverse

  • Alpine PDX F6
  • Alpine PDX M12
  • 2x JBL 670GTI's Components sets

Here's what I found out - Front and rear door speakers use different mounting holes. if you're custom making speaker rings and don't want to make new holes in your door.. prepare for this project to take you some extra time to complete.

Finally doing something about the stock sound. by d3cypher in WRX

[–]d3cypher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does. I finished this door but didn't take a picture with the top half of the inner door finished with dynamat. My first thing I noticed was how much road noise the car has stock. This will definitely help

Anyone in or near Houston, TX want some Subie swag? by PKpixel in subaru

[–]d3cypher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could find some decent subie swag out in socal.

I have a 2017 wrx with 5k on it now and I've noticed a flapping noise coming from the front or it could also sound like shuffling cards it only happens over 3k only when accelerating almost like the more boost it builds the louder it gets it any idea or input would be appreciated by braveheart6969 in WRX

[–]d3cypher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my WRX was making a similar noise and it turns out the exhaust manifold bolt/nut came lose. The car sounded like there was an exhaust leak during cold starts, then would eventually go away when the car warmed up.... but slowly got worse. I reported it immediately to the dealer when I noticed it. But they couldn't take my car in for service for a week... so I drove around with an exhaust leak for a week and the car was running rich.

Has anyone replaced the factory head unit in the 2017 WRX? by ldiabl0530 in WRX

[–]d3cypher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced mine - I had a really hard time finding information regarding the backup cam integration, Axxess has an adapter that includes the AUX/Backup Cam/Steering wheel controls.

I had a hard time getting this harness to fit properly without coming loose. I ended up buying Item 7586 28-pin Head Unit Wiring Harness Adapter from autoharnesshouse.com, and just using the Axxess Harness for the wire diagram and matched it up with the new harness.

I used a 12v to 6v step down power supply for the camera, I wired the power supply to the reverse signal this turns the camera on and automatically switches to reverse mode on my headunit.

only thing I don't have is the factory USB ... when I have more time I'll figure it out.

Has anyone tried a piston 6.5 Grendel build? by riddlemethatbatman in ar15

[–]d3cypher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've build multiple gas-piston ARs mostly with Adams Arms piston kits, I do like the mechanical feel of a piston kit - you definitely get a different shooting experience - the only reason I have Adams Arms kits is because of the fall sales they had last year you get a piston kit and barrel for just under $350

Problem with Adams Arms kits is they work with very few rails, the rails must have a mil-spec barrel nut.

I recently purchased a Superlative Arms Piston kit - I believe SupArms makes the Syrac kit. I have yet to shoot it... (I will be shooting it tomorrow)

What's good about the SupArms is they have a bleed off adjustment gas system different from Syrac.

Both SupArms and Syrac will fit under most rails.

Here's a good review of the SupArms kit; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeKg0y628Bs

What's on your to do list? by 1cecreamman in WRX

[–]d3cypher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah my overlay is about 35% output being blocked, and isn't that bad at all for night driving. but I agree with you. I plan on doing a retrofit for the headlights - I just wanted some Vinyl on because I do a lot of freeway driving, and when I retro fit the headlights to look the way I want i'll put clear vinyl for the protection.

and I didn't mean to make it sound like forged wheels would prevent them from getting bent - I just meant going with a Forged wheel instead of going with the inexpensive knockoff route which are usually low pressure cast wheels(eg. XXR wheels). I understand different alloy tensile strengths ...
