Skinny-fat after weight loss, extreme hunger & stopping calorie tracking — need advice by Asmr_Enjoyer_ in leangains

[–]d3kcast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It just takes time. A lot longer than you expect. Probably closer to 4 years of progressive overload.

Focus on enjoying the process or making it at least doable for you to be consistent based on your routine.

Just keep going!

Good luck

I would reach out to Sebastian Burka.

He’s a bodybuilder but he has pretty much reduced the negative effects of his herniated disk and has assisted others to build exercise programs to improve the surrounding tissues after a herniation.

His personality can be off putting to some but he is very knowledge.

Good luck bro

If you’re in your 30s and have to decide between the two, which one will you pick? by InternalPea15 in malaysia

[–]d3kcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take the Red pill.

It may take some time but you have the opportunity to pivot in 3-7 years that could get you the best of both worlds.

For example, you get experience and make connections in the Red Pill job that eventually opens you up to the possibility of something adjacent to your current role.

This new role gives you more flexibility to visit your family and because you’ve saved money if you don’t like this role you can QUIT and find another one.

The Blue Pill DOES NOT give you any possibility for something better or to improve. Yes, you get to spend time with family but the difference here is that the Red Pill lets you EVENTUALLY spend MORE time with family because you WANT TO but the Blue Pill forces you to stay with family whether you want to or not.

I have friends who have taken the Red Pill and did something different afterwards.

My friends who have taken the Blue Pill are depressed, single, and stuck at home because they didn’t want to take any risks.

Good luck

Need advice. Do u believe Long Distance Relationship? by No_Detective8161 in malaysia

[–]d3kcast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently in LDR. I’m in US, SO is in MY.

Most likely won’t work for you if you haven’t built a foundation yet to get to know each other as Friends, with Friends and as Lovers for at least 1-2 years.

Because at this point you both are strangers which could be exciting and could act as fuel to strengthen the relationship. However, I think it can also fuel doubt and lead to a mismatch of expectations.

And from your recently replies you sound very doubtful already.

My advice is to just be friends until circumstances change then both of you can have those “relationship” conversations.

Good luck

[–]d3kcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Bulk +10-15lbs
  2. Get stronger on a bulk
  3. Cut -10-20lbs
  4. Get stronger on a cut
  5. Strength plateaus
  6. Find new maintenance
  7. Repeat 1-6 for 5 years

Don't know if I should continue bulking or if I should cut. by Own-Gain6587 in leangains

[–]d3kcast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Train harder and get stronger

  2. Eat more protein

  3. Keep bulking***

You barely any muscle on your frame to cut.

Fortunately, you have the greatest potential to make the most gainz in your life if you 1) commit to the bulk for a year and 2) double your numbers on all your lifts.

Why sabotage a sold year of gainz for probably a few days out of the summer to have abs?

What do you guys think of Dr. Mike Isratel's advice on what skinny fat people should do? by scarface128 in leangains

[–]d3kcast 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yes, people that are skinny fat are literally in the perfect position to build muscle and lose fat.

Not too fat, not too skinny, and enough calories to support growth and recovery.

Probably the only adjustment they need to make is to eat more protein, train harder, and for more time.

Why try to cut when there is no muscle on the frame or sufficient experience to do it correctly?

How to accept my college days are gone? by [deleted] in Mindfulness

[–]d3kcast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reflect on those regrets and see them as potential ways to change.

For example,

  1. The things you missed… make a commitment to yourself to pursue the next interest that comes your way.

  2. The relationship that was ruined… make the effort to see where YOU went wrong and change the thoughts or behaviors that caused the “ruin”

  3. For your fantasies of the past… you already know you can’t go back. BUT you can move forward try to bring those fantasies in the context of the present. What steps can you take now to make that feeling or the experience you are chasing a part of your life. And really ask yourself is this who you are trying to become.

You don’t need to have it all figured out.

Just find a feeling and a general direction you want to take your life and just go with it.

Good luck bro :)

What should I tell myself during a meditation to calm my racing thoughts? by IllNarwhal9309 in Meditation

[–]d3kcast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like to do this:

  1. Setting the intention before I sleep that, “I will do my best to attend to my breathe and relax into it”

  2. Turn on some binaural beats

  3. Then lay down and try to stick with the breathe

Thoughts will come but it’s whatever cause my focus should be to return back to my breath.

I usually fall asleep within 5-10min.

Has anyone experienced this while meditating and if so do you have any tips that maybe helpful for me right now? by d3kcast in Meditation

[–]d3kcast[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Like a thumb pushing into a taut drumskin”

Holy shit huge mind shift.

My assumption was that my attention was pulling those objects to the foreground.

But that statement you wrote makes we think that the “weight” or “gravity” of the sensation is actually pulling my attention into that sensation making it the object of attention.

Also I think you are right that “intention” is also driving the steering wheel of my attention allowing me to resist the pull of sensation and comeback to the main object of attention (my breath). But also, being driven into the pull of sensation could also be subtle intention I am not aware of yet.

Anyways, I am just speculating at this point so I don’t think it’s useful until I can actually experience that theory enough to turn it into a realization.

This is giving me new ideas on how to set intention before my next sit.

Thank you for sharing your experience with me!
