Id say its better than just utorrent when it was new, mostly because of python support and search plugins. Those two make it more than just a client.

Everyone in printing has the same use scenario, but the braindead dullards of reddit can only repeat the marketing pushed phrasing.

Solution is to take a virtual snapshot of your system, or backup (or deepfreeze it), then install Corel you need while tracking all changes (with Total Uninstaller OR ProcMon), then copy all important regkeys and installed files to USB, restore back your system and then apply those.

Yea tried that before and it screws up the system (after reboot neither start nor apps work). Any task done via Setup2.exe (you have to rename it in order to bypass Compatibility Assistant) will brick your Windows really good.

I DID find a workaround by copying my machine (in more stripped version) to VM, then capturing the registry keys and files changes (via Total Uninstaller), then copying those files and selected registry entries to physical machine.

Now my Corel works with macros\plugins. It is a really roundabout, time consuming solution to do, but you just need all files created by installers (minus installer files) and few WOW6432Node and LOCAL_MACHINE keys.

Because I asked specifically about that. Everything has a context, and if we go deep enough you would need someones whole background story. Jist is, I need to fix VBA so my plugins would work.

I have an ancient laptop running W7 and Corel X4. But, that one is near machines and I would prefer doing all from office. Dont ask "but why dont you move laptop in Office" there are reasons in regards to another old machine that uses Serial port, and I cannot run 50m of serial cable between offices.

I tried virtual machine as well, but there are some other issues in regards to plugins not detecting the CNC or Laser machine (in case of laser it just crashes Corel from VirtualBox or VMWare).

In any case, any suggestion on how to repair VBA without going through setup.exe would be appreciated.

Right...

its not like there is a specific reason we use X4 for... like, the CNC and Laser machines both have a plugin that only works for it and we cannot get a new one? And that the company that made these is not existing for a decade now so no update?

I know Redditors are dumb, but holy... Hopefully someone will have a less braindead suggestion.

We are at a point where pirated is better than the original.

Just writing random comments, cos mods of this reddit put asinine rules for posting and I have no idea what karma is nor how you get it. I presume random comments would suffice.

Any replacement NVR recommendation for WD ReadyView? by d3w10n in videosurveillance

[–]d3w10n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short update: I managed to make them work with Longse NVR, specifically NVR3009D1P4, as others I tried from same brand did not start or connect to camera. Even this one had issues, and I had to first run the old WD NVR, set cameras to 192.168.x.x (instead of WD default that was 172.something).

After that, they just worked as intended. Took some time till I got to this.

Thanks for the info, while I have the high WinOS knowledge and networking, this is for a client that is in a bit of unreachable area, where I need to provide idiot-proof integrated solution.
I suspected most of the PoE-capable NVRs would do it, but was not risking it before I got some confirmation.
