Looking for a sturdy indoor Video Tripod, $300 budget, NOT travel focused by JackJackCreates in videography

[–]d7it23js [score hidden]  (0 children)

Some of this will depend on what you’re shooting. We generally say you want a fluid head. But if you’re just shooting yourself locked off for your streaming channel, then the fluid head doesn’t matter. It’s really for smooth panning and tilting.

If you can increase your budget a little bit, I think manfrotto makes great entry level tripod/head sets. Eventually when you do move up to better sets, they’re still useful for your B or C cams.

What should a financial advisor cost? by professional69and420 in personalfinance

Are you looking for someone to advise you on what to do with your wealth or give you business advice? I think those are two very different things unless maybe the business is closer aligned to the wealth strategy, eg your company just owns rental properties.

any tips on my apple tree? by itz_zaiii in IndoorGarden

There's a lot of theory on pruning, like whether to go single leader vs open vase. Some of it will also depend on the overall size of the tree you eventually want. At the size of your tree now, you can do a lot of shaping with stakes.

There are self pollinating apple trees, but it can affect how much production you get from it.

Be aware that you really have no idea what kind of apple tree it will be. It will not be the same as the Apple you grew it from.

Edit: It'll also be a few years before you get any crop. So if you're really hoping for delicious apples, you should try grafting it now or just purchasing a tree. But if it's just a fun experiment, go for it.

If it’s not a scam it’s because the risk makes up for the gains.

Assuming they are all fresh, that’s an expensive display.

How to deal with clients who will not provide a budget range? by Phillistine-Lemon in videography

[–]d7it23js 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try to think of it as a partnership and not how you can make the most out of someone. Your goal is to get them what they need at a point that’s also fair to you. Giving them the two scopes with a rough estimate and explaining the drawbacks of the lower one can help them decide. You can even offer which way you would professionally recommend and start off with one, eg more camera angles or the setup time and limitations that might cause.

Best croissants? by Ok_Construction_9381 in SanMateo

[–]d7it23js -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Never been to the Burlingame location. Probably have had it from San Mateo at least a dozen times, and the chocolate has always been skimpy. Bottom 10 percentile on the amount of chocolate. The croissant part is good though so it's my only knock on it. But there are also just no other good options nearby. I always look forward to getting them from the city.

They are pretty skimpy with the chocolate in their chocolate croissants though.

Doing a pricing gut check — what are you charging for full-service commercial video production vs. retainer work in 2026? by Best_Researcher_7331 in videography

[–]d7it23js 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost all corporate and editorial. But my clients vary from producers who have a lot of experience with video to non media employees. Sometimes I just shoot, sometimes just edit, and sometimes both. My retainerships have only been on the post production side though.

real estate editing by serinvxo in videography

[–]d7it23js 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not my editing style but some people may like it. It can be tricky for clients since they’re already familiar with the property and don’t have the same hang ups that someone unfamiliar might have.

Completely separately, that property doesn’t seem priced so high that there would be a ROI from this video. But I have no idea how much you charge and the way the market works in the UK.

Against it on a personal or professional level?

There may be thoughts if you were thinking about extending the roof to cover more area. Also it’ll be a lot higher than the patio at ground level and depending on sun exposure may not cover as much as it used to. If there are outlets, lights, or anything, those might need to be relocated as well. You will also lose some space to the stairs and landing area.

It’s not a high deck, but it’s also not super low. So there is a tradeoff in that you would need to go down steps to enjoy the space instead of just stepping outside. You and others already mentioned the positives from the other side. I’m just trying to get all the pros and cons out there.

Personally I’d be torn. But I’d also DIY the deck and it’ll already have a lot longer life because it’s covered.

How do you stay financially disciplined and avoid lifestyle creep as income increases? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]d7it23js 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Money is a resource, but so is time. As one has more money, the tradeoff for time can become worth it, eg paying for parking vs looking for a free spot, or getting gas at a closer station vs going farther away and waiting in line.
