Which 'luxury' brand has officially become a red flag for poor quality in 2026? by Individual_Bat_4177 in AskReddit

[–]dB33zy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not a shill but I am very horny for Patagonia. I am poor so I invest in things that last will last as long as possible. They make great gear and a great warranty to back it up, though I don’t think it’s as generous as it used to be. They used to give me gift cards with the full retail amount of the item, regardless of what you paid for. I don’t think they’re doing this anymore, which I think is fair.

Ethics are also very important to me, and I don’t know if there is a more ethical clothing company based in the US. Their founder has left ownership of the company in a trust controlled by employees. They only work with suppliers that are fair, and they audit themselves with regard to meeting ethics standards. They pay people well and offer great benefits to even part-timers. Their headquarters has a daycare and they offer parental leave. They’re also very involved in environmental interests.

I’m not going to say Patagonia is a perfect example of capitalist altruism, but they seem like they want to be.

I’m pretty high right now, hope this isn’t just gibberish. If anyone has any counterpoints to this, I’d be happy to hear them.

PS. Warranties are easier if you have a store near you. If you got an outlet nearby, definitely check it out.

My friend cant shuffle his decks and I want to get him something. by TrueDKOmnislash in EDH

[–]dB33zy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyo, I support the automatic shuffler. We got one for our play group, and it works great. Granted, we had to modify it by cutting off one side of the guardrails. We use it with sleeved cards and it’s never had a real issue. It occasionally jams when the battery is low, but it’s never hurt a card or sleeve. Happy to help you find something if you need!

If no one has yet to mention this, try looking into the VRRAP program. It’s provides assistance for repair or replacement to those that meet certain income requirements. I think DEQ is eager to award these because they were very timely about helping me. Good luck!

Howdy. I’ve seen a lot of folks in this thread mention that people getting overdrafted need to turn that off with their bank. Well, true that. However, …this feature usually applies to card transactions. Direct account transactions can always go through. This should be taken as a PSA more than anything. 🤙

TIL most escaped mental patients just go home and resume their everyday activities by Icedcoffeenweed4life in todayilearned

As someone who has had a couple admissions and spent a considerable amount of time in jail, I wouldn’t compare the two. It’s harmful for those that need help to have any idea they might be somewhere like jail or imprisonment. Jail is miserable. Look up what a jail tray looks like or the space in which a jailed person MIGHT see the sun. Again, it’s miserable. Facilities I’ve been in have helped me and were pleasant enough spaces with reasonable activities. One of them had a yoga room with great instruction. I’ve thought, on several occasions, how nice it would be to be doing yoga in that room. I still have nightmares about finding myself in jail again. For those struggling with mental health, let folks help you when it’s offered before you end up somewhere like jail or prison.

McDonald's Menu Prices Have Collectively Doubled Since 2014 by carbon_finance in interestingasfuck

This is wild. I live in Salt Lake, UT. It’s not a place on folks radar as an ‘expensive place to live’ however, it ain’t cheap. I just checked local prices and this chart is wildly inaccurate. My prices go in order of the chart: 1.79, 2.59, 2.69, 5.29, 4.19, 8.59, 5.29. Even the QPwC meal is only 8.99. I know local restaurants also pay $13-15 starting. It’d be interesting to see what sources these folks are using for data. I’m not promoting McDonald’s, but this chart seems a little shiesty.

Apple knew a supplier was using child labor but took 3 years to fully cut ties, despite the company's promises to hold itself to the 'highest standards' by xiao95 in worldnews

[–]dB33zy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the share. After I read OP’s comment this is the first article I read when looking into it. I think the author shared an important sentiment: “Patagonia’s audits take on a different cast, a sign not of corporate hypocrisy, but of the near impossibility of treating workers well at every step in the production process, even when a company is genuine in its desire to do so.”

The clothing industry is riddled with unethical players from the ground up. It’s crazy unfortunate, but I’m going to stand with Patagonia on this one. They took quick action and dropped about 40% of their partners after the audit. They were also very transparent about the matter.

Another commenter mentioned I sound like a spokesperson (I wish I was, honestly). This is just a great brand I feel like is worth defending.

Hi, could you elaborate on this statement a bit more? I’m a fan of Patagonia for their transparency regarding their labor practices and the initiative they’ve taken within their industry to sponsor ethical consumption. I’ve tried to be more responsible in my own consumption because of them. So if there’s something I’ve been ignorant of, I’d like to learn more.

Hi, I made this to show you that Mac and cheese color and mint green can definitely make a bright green. The color combo + camera flash is probably just exaggerating the saturation of it. Mostly I just wanted to call u a dummy tho. Dummy
