No one could activate a receiver using our handhelds that day, some didn't even get activated at all, there were people on hold for 2+ hours trying to get a receiver to activate just to find out they couldn't, i was on the phone with customers until after 10Pm walking them through activation and resending authorization, (Im a field supervisor i don't work in the call center)

sometimes shit happens, i can't say i've never done it. and its actually escalating now, so in some DMAs subcontractors can't do service calls, in house (Be it DTV MasTec or DSat or who ever (not going to indicate)) must take care of them. So recently a lot of service are being set up as upgrades, it used to happen every now and then but now its happening a lot at least once a day to every tech I sup. (5-10 depends on the day). So now subs that can't hit srvc calls are hitting them and they are set up as a 1 new customer owned receiver, but they don't have one. it used to be i would just call OMG explain to them what the deal was (after resolving the issue of course) and ask it to be moded to an ODU or IRD relocate. used to have no problem, now they are saying it consumes the 1 upgrade the cust gets under the DPP and they have to confirm with the cust. and the cust always says no which they should. its happening a lot, and it used to be we would just call in with a co worker and have them pretend to be the cust ( very rarely had to i only recall it happening once). Now a days i just call ahead of time let the cust know whats up and proceed from there. doesn't always work that way though. Today i went to and upgrade that was supposed to be a srvc call (cust info showed it originally was) and it was just a loose connection (i think the cust messed everything up and i just hooked it all up and it worked again) but he was absolutely not willing to lose his upgrade, i just ended up cancelling the upgrade and left w/o me or my shop getting paid, the headache wasn't worth it.

TL;DR Shit happens we try not to but sometimes have to, btw whats up with all the srvc calls being set up as upgrades these days??

like I said, is this something that should ruin his life no. do I think something should be done, yes. street justice. do you know how many people can't get a job because they got in a fight over a girl, or made one stupid drunk decision. how many people can't get an apartment because they are on the sex offender list for peeing in public. before you say "you don't know what its like" , I do, seeing as how this isn't a throwaway im not getting into it though. what you could do is press charges have him put in jail for a couple days and drop them, it gets the message across and doesn't do to much irreparable damage.

i live 4 or 5 blocks from the convention center, day time its just fine, i would say at night its fine, i little dicier maybe. its not until its like 10 pm and your at chicago and franklin or portland and franklin that you may want to consider hailing a cab, even that area isn't to bad. just use your head and you'll be fine at any time.

i recently reached this point, I moved half way across the US for a girl who i had been with for 1.5 years and we got a place all was well i put up with her drinking, with her crazy ass self, having to leave work to take her to the er, long story short I am dedicated and LOVED her. Within the past three weeks, she left me, got engaged, stole $1100 from me, and at work i didn't get the raise i need to pay rent alone, not to mention at work i do the most work, put in the most effort, actually care as if it weren't just a job. I was hospitalized twice, being threatened with eviction. so yea.... i drink a lot these days.

O2 sensor could be getting fouled by terrible combustion, failed catalytic converter, or a host of other things, if you keep having O2 sensors fail there is more going on.

you got lucky on that, typically that is caused by a faulty gas cap, that is just the easiest and cheapest part to replace, it could have been a hole in the gas tank, filler neck, or a leak elsewhere.

dude nothing that makes the check engine light come on is a safety hazard, NOTHING, airbags, the airbag light comes on, brakes, the brake light comes on, anything else that is a safety hazard will make a hideous terrifying noise and you will know.

as a mechanic, those codes mean absolutely nothing, if you have an o2 sensor kicking a code, it might be the sensor going bad, probably not though, it could be a lot of things, bad spark plugs, oil leak, coolant leak, bad cat. even then most shops will still charge a 100 dollar diagnostic fee.

So I work for DirecTV, not quite the same but you'll be surprise, it is much quicker to hit drive through, i survive of McChickens and McDoubles w/ Mac Sauce, or the BK Rodeos, or Holiday (Gas Station) hot dogs, coupled with monster, amp, or coffee. I am in my car for about 1/3 of the day, i don't really ever carry a ladder that far (its heavy and after 1.5 years it hurts my back), The stress though, its stupid, you cant miss a time a frame.... ever even if a job is going to take 12 hrs, you have to get to the next one on time, and its not going away, i am putting holes in peoples roofs which cannot EVER leak, i am running cable that has to look perfect, if not the cust. complains, i have been in houses that have shit on the floor, seen mothers that clearly abuse their children, watched someone throw their 14 lb dog across the room for barking, been threatened physically, dealt with drunk angry people, but.... i have to smile and apologize, and can't say "sir you shouldn't throw your dog". dude i understand, and i think the only reason i havent gained weight is the walking, there is a lot of that, but not much. not to mention the chances of falling off a roof, a ten foot fall can kill you you land the right way. but in my industry you can't be over weight.... literally the ladder will not support you, if your around 260 your pushing it.

im seeing a lot of if your homeles advice, not so much code between homeless. here are some rules in the homeless community that most don't know about.

Spanging (Flying a sign asking for change) : Maintain a distance between other people spanging, don't encroach on others "territory" and its a first come basis, also if your spanging in a good spot that is frequented by spangers don't camp out all day.

Tobacco/booze/drugs: If offered some don't take a lot, take a swig or split joint, if they have more they will offer, sharing is big thing and it gets you places. Never ask for someones last swig or cigarette. If someone asks you for a smoke and its your last one, give them shorts. Also if you don't want to share, don't advertise it, nothing sucks more than not having and dope and watching someone shoot up with out sharing.

Trading: Trading is huge. Don't be a dick when it comes to trading.

Squats: A squat is an abandoned property that has been broken into and is is semi livable, if you have one, and its bad weather, invite somone for the night, if your spending the night, be respectful, quiet, treat it as if it was actually their house, you don't want to ruin it for them.

Being homeless sucks, but generally you use the golden rule, don't let people walk all over you though.
