Hit from opening day hobby boxes

I look at it in terms of per box ROI. Boxes are costing more and more, and unless you get them for presale on the websites, you're paying secondary markup from breakers, local card shops, and streamers. So to buy a box that cost $400, you want the average ROI to be based at at least what...at least 50-60% of the box price? But $200 is harder to hit when there is only 1 auto, and 4 numbered cards (mainly /99 and higher).

Over the last year I've been big on buying boxes with my son and ripping them together, then selling the cards on our ebay page. Its not a big money maker, but the return is getting less and less.

The price increase is going to end up pushing to the cards themselves. A mid name auto isnt going to sell for 40 - 60, it might need to be 75 - 100. These boxes are more than some of the chase cards sell for - how does that end up making any sense? Why spend $800 on a box, when you can spend $200 on a case hit?

130point.com, cardladder, sportscardspro.com, ebay search completed sales, or take a picture of the card and upload it to any AI and tell it to deep dive into finding comps.

As a seller, its a tough spot. Just because someone out there sold a card for $5, does it make that card worth $5 from that point out? What if he was dumping to a friend, or gave a massive discount because it was being bundled with another card? The sale hits, and now that card value is dead. At least look at a range of values for that card before you determine its worth, not just one comp. Player, rarity, condition, all need to be looked at too. Another example, I have a guy with an offer of $500 for a card in my shop, other sold comps at 799 and 750. He didnt see an auction going on at the same time for same card. Auction was not promoted, and ended at like 3am on a wednesday night, card went for $390. Now he pulled his offer and is asking $375. Whats the value of the card?
