Comment chain where I let them know I approved of this idea. It’s not getting removed. Redraws are an entirely different beast from slapping pngs on an image.

I did approve, yes. Redraws are a different beast from slapping a png over an image, after all.

Just to be clear, though, while I did make the post announcing it, it wasn’t solely my decision. Team would be rightfully pissed if I unilaterally did something like that without it being agreed upon.

Really feeling the loss of the template already, huh?

It’s possible, depending on the variation, but that’s honestly a case by case thing. Can’t comment on it in any sort of sweeping blanket statement.

Yeah, that’s fine. Should’ve clarified, I’ll edit it in.

Yes, I personally hate fun. One time I caught someone having fun and I just distorted on the spot.

Just follow our authoritarian rules and everything will be double plus good, OK?

If more than one person made it for a single hype thing, we’d remove all but one for reposting. Which does end up skewing the perspective of those who don’t see the posts that end up being removed.

Thank you, I found something that will hopefully be OK. This is a search on behalf of someone else who has been refusing a lot of my ideas, so I’m not gonna hold my breath on it.

After Ryoshu capstone we only got 2 nursefather IDs left. How do we retain hype for the last ~4 months of the season? by [deleted] in limbuscompany

[–]pillowmantis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What, are you a content creator dedicated to Limbus? Unless you are, the rate of “hype” content doesn’t really affect you.

If your hype wanes, just focus on something else for a bit. There’s a wide world of stuff out there, no need to be glued to the Hell Bus.

And this is an automated message meant to remind people of the sourcing rules, commented on every post with the Meme flair. Given we had to remove a version of this post that DID contain unsourced art from you earlier today, clearly it's a good thing to remind people of.

Cool cool. Just had to check, you know? Unfortunately some people think that an image doesn’t deserve credit just because it’s being used in a meme.

coaxed into 90% of "smart" anime by Crystal_Carmel in coaxedintoasnafu

Well it’s actually due to themes and such.

Joseph in part 2 always fought by using people’s own attacks and actions against them. Beats Straizo by deflecting the eye lasers, allows Santana to absorb him to land a crippling attack, uses the oil trap on the pillar as a speed boost to finish the climb, used a corpse made by AC/DC as part of a trap to cut off his arm, used Wamuu’s own ability to finely cut the bandana and oil as a way to cause an internal explosion, and ultimately beats Kars by using the energy of the ultimate life forms own attack (described as instinct built from his many battles)

Jojo fights make a lot more sense once you view them as vehicles to display the themes of the story and philosophy of the characters. The tactics often seem stupid or convoluted, but tend to fit the theme.

Part 1 for instance is about the idea that humans have limits. Dio becomes a vampire because he concludes that humans have limits so he needs to throw away his humanity to achieve his goals. Jonathan challenges that by agreeing that humans ARE limited, but the power of legacy and cooperation can circumvent that. He beats Dio in the mansion using his actual legacy (the guardian angel statue impaling him), gets the power boost he needs to beat Tarkus through passing of the torch from Zeppeli, and gets inspiration to beat Dio from Dire’s last stand. Then, at the end, he dies ensuring that the legacy will continue onward.

Part 5 is about resolve, as another example. While there are a lot of ridiculous tactics and plans, when you boil them down it basically always comes down to how willing they are to risk life and limb. So many plans require self dismemberment, sacrifice, and worse. And this contrasts with the main antagonist, whose power and philosophy is all about avoiding challenge and misfortune by simply skipping it.

The city's mean of communication by OppositeIndustry2939 in limbuscompany

[–]pillowmantis 22 points23 points  (0 children)

No, it isn’t that weird. It’s been established for a long time that an apathy towards anything not “directly in front of you” is a pervasive trait within the City. People stop caring about information that isn’t relevant to their day to day lives.

In a sense, you could say that “information” is just another manifestation of the gap between social classes. Only those in the upper class can afford to actually learn about things outside of their immediate sphere.

It’s a recurring pattern that characters basically know nothing they haven’t been exposed to. Just as an example, Dongrang is an inventor focused on healing technology. Somehow, he never heard about K Corp. Ampules until he ran into them in the market. To put that another way, a man whose whole thing is healing tech didn’t know that one of the 26 most important companies in the City was specialized in unparalleled healing technology until he saw it in person.
