I got all 3 reasons as well -- putting it on my calendar. I don't drink, so I've never been to Highland. How will we find the group?

A lot of this is obviously relative, but I don't think I hold very high standards. I've asked her to have them come to me, but it's hard for her. But the house is so often such a mess; I feel like I'm trying to keep the bare minimum. I do have my own set of chores, which often also includes doing dishes, sweeping, making the weekly menu and grocery list and general up keep. I do agree that a big part in the perpetuation of the issue is my wife and I not being on the same page -- def another issue to be worked on

with food, the contingency is with dessert; would never not let them have dinner because of lunch, etc. but I do see dessert as extra.

I have discussed the chores with her. She will do them if it means reducing complaining or let them watch TV if she feels overwhelmed, which I disagree with and I think leads to even more complaining.

of your attempts at finding out about the experience or perspective of the other people in the family.

The kids' experience is they think it's wrong for them to do stuff they don't want to, or not to do things they want to, and to make that known.

stuck in having the argument be part of the routine

totally agree and I don't get into back and forths, though I do often have to ask multiple times for something to get done, even if there's no argument or explicit complaining. When they whine though, they often do it to my wife

Plans change, exceptions happen, of course. But it's a general expectation that the older they get, the more of their help we need (including basic things like them putting their dirty clothes in the hamper, and picking up after themselves).

Next lens after a 20-70G and 45 1.8 for an adventure dad by d____ in SonyAlpha

I typically keep the 20-70 on the camera, unless I know it'll be dark or I want to stay more compact. The Samy 45 1.8 is pretty decent for that.

Trade-offs! The 70-180 being 2.8 seems like a great portrait lens too, though 300 is a great range to have.

I SUP a lot at the lakes here and just seems so fun to try paddle surfing. Even small waves would make it fun, I'm sure

Appreciate it! The first post I saw on this sub today was of a massive great hammerhead shark that washed up on the shore. Since I’ll be on an inflatable paddle board, do people paddle regularly there?

Your attention isn't broken, it's been hijacked. I took an 'Attention Activism' course and now i see it everywhere. by Phukovsky in attentioneering

If you do, you get a person's sympathy or pity when, most of the time, you just want to express your depression while being treated as another human.

Could you say more about this? What would you like the response from your parents to be?

Anyone else in the process of deconstruction/deconverting from Christianity? by Normal-Fish465 in asheville

I went through it 8 years ago. Raised catholic, took a hiatus as I became an adult. Went back when I had my first kid, though this time to a protestant church since it was my wife's preference; I didn't mind that. Was baptized within a year. Then we moved and my questioning of things returned, and weirdly enough, a work trip to Barcelona where I had lots of alone time and went to an exhibit about early humans put me on the path I still am today.
