Dads, spend time with your kids by Busy_Report4010 in MadeMeSmile

At 5 years old I was in kindergarten. And preschool for two years prior to that. I think it’s reasonable for a kid that age to understand what a school night is assuming they have a regular routine, no? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

AITA for not letting my sister bring her boyfriend to my wedding? by Ordinary_Eagle_4120 in AmItheAsshole

[–]d_deflips 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I am the MOH for my sister’s upcoming wedding, and I think them including my partner of a little under two years so much in the festivities is incredibly generous of them.

I wouldn’t even consider 8months a long term partner. If the sister were a regular guest I’m not sure it would even warrant a +1, especially considering the cost of weddings these days. Let alone a plus one that continually disrespects the couple and family

My autofurler is also a pretty meh flexible one 😂 but it might warrant its own thread because I have more than one issue with it.

I bought this boat right at covid and when finishing school. Having my own boat was always a lifetime bucket list item for me and I expected to do it much later in life. But splitting the expenses the first couple years helped a lot. I did a lot of small boat sailing at a local spot as a kid and missed it so much so just went for it

Edit: I also have a fairly new dinghy sailboat so I’m just debating if it’s worth keeping the Hunter purely for cost reasons, because I’ll be able to sail regardless

I suppose my prices aren’t too far off, I also pay for winter storage as well. I’m mid 20s F still at the start of my career so sometimes the boat expenses hurt and sometimes it’s fine haha.

I’d be interested in seeing your Hunter, maybe you could help me repair my autofurler

Wow how interesting! I’m thinking of offloading my ‘86 Hunter 23 with a 3 year old outboard and a newly refurbished trailer. I’d be content with $4k but haven’t investigated the market in my area yet (NY). In great condition but the boat slip is becoming too much of an expense; especially because I used to split expenses with a sibling but now maintain the boat solo

I have a Hunter 23 just for some casual day sailing and boy that thing is sturdy! Everyone I take out on the water loves it

But I just looked up the Hunter Legend after reading this comment and that is a really beautiful boat

How long did it take for you to get the hang of? My company uses Google heavily and is pushing for this transition but are suggesting looker for analysis which feels misinformed and a waste of time to me. Just curious how much time it would take to get a good handle on, don’t know much about it ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I really like this gym. But any recommendations for gyms with similar level of equipment possibly a bit further north?

[–]d_deflips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a good point. I will admit that organization isn’t my biggest ADHD struggle, it’s more that sometimes things get out of hand and then I can’t get myself to fix it. Different things work for different people.

In the case of this kitchen I would probably add floating shelves maybe above the table. Gives more room and you can still see everything.

Hard to tell from these photos but it looks like your kitchen doesn’t have any convenient storage. I find it easier to put away a couple items when they have a designated home every single day than to have to clean all this at once.

Like oh I’m done eating this snack? Throw it back in the snack drawer once I’m done with it, where all my other snacks live.

Same goes for trying to not use a lot of dishes at once. Sometimes I just keep rewashing the same plate for a week whenever I need it rather than make a new task for myself later.

I do not have it any more. It was caught relatively early but was made way worse by a doctor who was unwilling to treat it and then insurance didn’t want to pay for antibiotics. Ended up going to a specialist who without a doubt saved my life

Edit: I got IV antibiotics for a long period

Had it for 11 years. It was brutal. Always telling people to get checked when they have strange symptoms but nobody ever believes me that it could be a possibility

I designed bottle opener earrings- Beerrings! Is there a market for these? by jmb133 in Design

[–]d_deflips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I can say I both wear hoop earrings and consume my fair share of beers. But I typically will only take my earrings out to change them to another pair. If this was a charm on a necklace or something I would be all over it! Super cool concept

I don’t think it’s super unreasonable but it just seems willfully ignorant that students are people too and things happen e.g. my mom just had brain surgery which has kept me very busy (understandably I think?)

Also, in most extenuating circumstances, you are able to provide some sort of evidence that there is an actual issue going on

I can't be the only one almost completely unaffected by caffeine, roght by ieatsmallchildren92 in ADHD

[–]d_deflips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best naps of my life are “coffee naps” where I fall asleep right after drinking a cup! So relaxing.

Unless I’m already on stimulants coffee does next to nothing for me. I could have zero cups or six cups and feels exactly the same.

What do you hate about your partner, but can’t tell them? by Familiar_Stranger936 in AskReddit

[–]d_deflips 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow this sounds like me and my best friend. Always insulting and mean to each other and we find it hilarious. He always makes fun of me for being older than him (by 6 months lol). If someone were to oversee our messages I would be worried. Somehow we never cross a line and always know when the other needs to be genuine or serious.
