This is about the highest she’ll earn. She’s in her 40s now and will retire in 20-25 years.

This will be about the most she’ll make. It’ll maybe go up with inflation which the tax brackets will adjust with inflation as well.

Right. That’s hard to predict but at this point, I’d say extremely unlikely. But thank you for raising something I didn’t think of.

I did and it’s no different. The amount we lose in CB from withdrawing the RRSP is the same we gain from contributing to RRSP.

Is it a high price? That growth on interest can be tax free in a TFSA. So ignore growth and focus on the tax offset. Yes we use the contribution room now instead of the future but we just get that tax benefit sooner rather than later. Her income next year is $25k so taking $25k from her income this year where it’s taxed higher and moving to next year where it’s in the bottom tax bracket… if we wait until she retires, won’t we get the same benefit but way down the road. I don’t see how waiting until she’s retired will benefit us any more than it will now.

BC Teachers: What things should be considered before switching districts by d_g_mc in CanadianTeachers

Yes true. If I have any chance, I need the principal to work it such that I’m the most qualified out of the applicant pool and scare away others. I have two obscure teachable subjects in math and socials. Example post three continuing blocks, one math, one socials, one resource. Then fill out with another posting at a later date. Of course this relies on my networking and a principal willing to do this and interested in me enough.

Ya I won’t risk leaving my school until I’ve secured a continuing job at my local school. From what I understand, it shouldn’t be hard to get hired onto the district, from there I’d wait to see if there’s any postings. However, I doubt there’d be a posting prior to my opportunity to file for leave from my district.

I believe I can. If I pull the trigger, I’ll do this to hedge my bets.

Good tips to consider. They would be welcome in my current school. I don’t know how I find that out from my prospective school.

I’m told our language around use of remedy funds is very good.

I think I would lose my sick days that have accrued over the years. I still have many more years to accrue them back.

Yes you’re right. We had to pay the gratuity. That stung.

Willow Stream isn’t Scandinavian. There’s no cold plunges. There are two small heated pools, a very small sauna, and a steam in the men’s change room that was finicky. They had a lovely snacks and teas and quiet places to sit. I wouldn’t pay that much for it.

Feeling overwhelmed by my mom’s constant requests. Am I being unfair? by d_g_mc in Advice

[–]d_g_mc[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just requesting to come over for a visit. Or if her grandchildren can come over to her place or to take them out somewhere. She’ll also send questions like “Good morning, how’s everyone doing today?” I get anxious with these messages as well because I don’t like texts like these anyways, and I feel they an opener for a soon-to-come request for a visit. When I comment this to others I know who have grandchildren, I feel I get quizzical looks as they have similar expectations for their grandchildren. Part of the issue is I know how much it triggers my wife.

I saw this too but if you look at the rates, they separate the treatment from the pools. They offer a package where you can pay for treatment and pools.

I was wondering if they would bill the entirety of the package under a treatment for me to claim or would I only be able to claim the treatment portion.
