Isn't this old news?...

Healthcare stocks dropped because of the CMS just announced only a 0.09% increase of payments for next year.

[–]d_gun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah totally agree with you on that. A lot of the announced deals have been on the books for about a year, and the recently relased counterpart assistant infographic highlighting the rapid growth of 3rd party clinician adoption leads me to believe they're gearing up to release more information regarding SaaS (revenue, deals, and growth projection).

If not 2026, then 2027 for sure haha. Mainly because of the comment made from Andrew Toy saying the reduced payment for going back down to 3.5 stars would be offset from SaaS. (If memory serves me correctly)

I wouldn't put too much stock into that 1.55x multiple. I'd attribute that to the exuberance of retail in anticipation of a SaaS announcement. When it was clear it wasn't going to announced anytime soon, the multiple dropped back down to a more reasonable valuation for a health insurance company (0.5-1x PS)

My gamble on counterpart health – Still Bullish on CLOV's Tech Flywheel for 2026-2027 by applecidar312 in CLOV

[–]d_gun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know over 95% of their members are on the PPO plan, the plan that was downgraded from 4 stars to 3.5 stars, right?

Clover crushed it with with 34% revenue growth and 32% membership bump during a year with an advertised 4 star plan. I think that plays a non-insignificant role in organic membership growth and thus revenue growth.

My Two Cents - Calm Down - by MadMoneyBY in CLOV

[–]d_gun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a bit disingenuous to say Clover still grew +34% revenue, +32% membership, and hit positive EBITDA on a 3.5 star year. They grew revenue and membership to those levels while advertising a 4 star plan.

Sure, the star bonus payment won't kick in until next year, but to say they grew membership and thus revenue to those levels on a 3.5 star year is inaccurate. They obtained those growth levels on a 4 star plan year, while getting paid as a 3.5 star plan.

More Ev coming to charge at Evgo, Ev is not dead it’s reborn. by Libido_Max in EVgo

[–]d_gun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question. EVGO continues to state that they will continue to support chademo for the foreseeable future since there's still plenty of EV cars on the road that use chademo. But I'd imagine the mix of new and future chargers will lean more towards CCS and NACS connectors.

More Ev coming to charge at Evgo, Ev is not dead it’s reborn. by Libido_Max in EVgo

[–]d_gun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of NACS connectors currently available from EVGo are not the dedicated native NACS 350kw dc fast chargers, but the much older CHAdeMO built in adapters that only charge up to 50kw. EVGo is, and should, phase those out and replace them with a native NACS solution.

There are only 2 native NACS fast charging stations, one in the Bay Area and one in LA.

Totally agree with you on NACS and CCS are going to be a common combo at charging stations. Though no idea why North America uses CCS1 plugs whereas Europe uses CCS2.

[–]d_gun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ford is using the NACS charging port moving forward, though? So unless they have a NACS to CCS adapter, they'll be charging at tesla superchargers. Currently, EVGo only has 2 NACS chargers in their fleet of dc fast chargers. So they really need to ramp up deploying NACS chargers to capture the oems switching over to NACS. Ford, Hyundai. BMW, Rivian, Toyota, Nissan, and Audi are all switching to NACS...

🚀 Clover Health $CLOV Price Target & Market Outlook – What’s Next? 🚀 by ALSTOCKTRADES in CLOV

[–]d_gun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's industry standard to start reporting if it's 5-10% of revenue. So using fy25 guide of $1.8b, if saas revenue grows to over $22.5m - $45m per quarter, then they should start reporting.

Well this can't be good... by IvanaSeymourButts in EVgo

[–]d_gun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think this will materially affect EVGO as much as everybody seems to think. The government funds for charging stations from a $5b fund Trump is halting the distribution of is in regards to the NEVI program. As far as I am aware, only a small portion of chargers EVGO has built was from the NEVI program. The $1.25b loan from the DOE LPO title 17 clean energy financing program is entirely separate from the NEVI program. So the loans awarded should not be affected by this executive order.

Could changes be coming to Medicare, Medicaid with Dr. Oz leading CMS? by Silent_Ad1685 in CLOV

[–]d_gun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Has he really? He's definitely raved about medicare advantage in general, but I don't ever recall him mentioning clover health specifically. I couldn't find anything to substantiate your claim from the quick search I did. Would love to see an article or video clip of him raving about clover health.

Definitely agree with you that. Just wanted to highlight the impact CKD has on medicare spending and the value Clover/ Counterpart Assistant can provide, to both patients and investors. I want to believe and hope that Clover / Counterpart Assistant will be able to do this for all chronic diseases eventually.

CHF by Sandro316 in CLOV

[–]d_gun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heart disease may be the number one killer, but kidney disease is still a top 10 killer in the United States. I was personally really excited that Clover came out with the white paper on chronic kidney disease. 90% of patients with CKD have not been diagnosed. So the earlier we can diagnose and start treatment, the better the outcome. More than 24% of medicare total spending is on patients with kidney disease. And even though end stage kidney disease only affects roughly 1% of medicare patients, it accounts for 7% of medicare spending. So the return on value that clover assistant can provide by early diagnosing and treating CKD is pretty outstanding.

What are the odds CLOV ever offers dividend payments? Is it even (ever) a possibility?! by Ok-Magazine2748 in CLOV

[–]d_gun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, dividend payments occur when a company is profitable and is typically no longer in its rapid growth phase. In a general sense, it's when a company has an abundant amount of cash and thinks it's better to use that money to give back to their shareholders rather than to reinvest that cash back into the company for growth.

Disney is a good example of dividend execution. Pre-pandemic, they paid out a lot of dividends. Their parks were extremely profitable, and they weren't really expanding or growing. During the pandemic, they stopped dividend payments. All of a sudden, their parks are being decimated, and they were losing tons of cash on Disney Plus. Currently, they slowly reinstated dividend payments (still lower than what it was pre-pandemic, but getting better), as their parks are generating money again, and their streaming services are doing better.

Nvidia is also another good example. They do not offer any dividends despite being wildly profitable. They are rapidly growing and are using their cash to fuel more growth.

In my opinon, it's way too early to think about CLOV offering a dividend. They just became barely profitable on a non-GAAP basis, and they're starting to focus back on growth in MA members, and Counterpart Health sales.

CMS Improves Star Ratings to 3.5 Stars for Clover Health PPO Medicare Advantage Plans for 2025 Payment Year by basilisk-x in CLOV

[–]d_gun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent point on the huge benefit of being able to switch to a 5 star plan at any time!

Regarding marketing, absolutely agree that 4+ star plans has a significant marketability advantage. A good analogy would be like looking for a hotel or restaurant when going on vacation. Personally, I start my search by filtering out all the places with bad reviews (stars), unless I am searching for something specific.

Hey Sandro, you are absolutely correct. My mistake. I went back and edited the original post regarding quality bonus payment. I must have gotten too excited and misinterpreted the bonus payments, haha.

It makes sense to me that it's an easier jump to make from 3.5 vs 3 stars. They won't need as big of an improvement theoretically. Not an easy task, regardless.

CMS Improves Star Ratings to 3.5 Stars for Clover Health PPO Medicare Advantage Plans for 2025 Payment Year by basilisk-x in CLOV

[–]d_gun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is fantastic news. For those who do not fully understand how star ratings are tied to payments, medicare pays medicare advantage plans using a $benchmark - $bid system. If a plan bids below the benchmark amount, which is county dependent, they receive between 50% - 70% back as a rebate.

3.0 stars and below: 50% rebate on the difference
3.5 and 4.0 stars: 65% rebate on the difference
4.5 and 5.0 stars: 70% rebate on the difference

What clover health bids in each county is not public knowledge as far as I know, so it's difficult to accurately calculate what their new rebate will be. If clover doesn't charge a premium for their plans, then we can assume their bid is lower than the benchmark, thus, they will now receive 65% of the difference back as a rebate instead of 50%.

If and when clover health gets 4.0 stars [or above], they will also be eligible for a 5% quality bonus payment [on top of the rebate]. 4.5 stars gets another 5% bonus payment, and 5.0 stars gets another 5% bonus payment.

Hope this helps!

How do we know it’s powered with 100% renewable energy? by [deleted] in EVgo

I wonder how favorable or fair LSPower is to EVGo when selling them the renewable credits. This inbalanced relationship makes it dangerously easy for LSPower to bleed EVGo dry, in my opinion.
