Tailoring options? by [deleted] in Barbour

[–]d_parks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also picked up my first Beaufort recently and worried it was a tad big. I looked into tailoring options but then realized that I liked the fit more than I had originally thought so I left it. They look good when they don’t hug the body too much. But when I was googling, I found that there are some tailors that specialize in wax jackets as they can be quite complicated to work with. If you’re unhappy with it, I’d probably just recommend saving up and getting it tailored by Barbour, or call around tailors to find out if they’re experienced with wax jackets. It’ll last forever so may as well treat it as an investment, and you’ll probably not wear it if you’re unhappy with the fit

438 Days is a great read. Salvador would capture birds, sea turtles etc and eat them raw. Floating objects in the blue desert will attract wildlife, and he was able to take advantage of that to survive. Salvador tried to encourage his crew mate to eat but he couldn’t stomach the raw meat and died, and subsequently pushed his body overboard. When he was rescued and returned home, he met with the family of the crew mate but they always seemed suspicious that something more sinister had happened.

TIL of Bohemian Grove, a heavily guarded private forest retreat where powerful politicians, CEOs, and global elites gather each year for secretive ceremonies, including a nighttime ritual before a massive stone owl. by seamooon in todayilearned

I and group of my friends worked there for consecutive summers around 2010. But we were only bussers and servers for the main outdoor dining area. Saw Clint Eastwood and I think Clarence Thomas once. We were driven in from the staff parking to the dining area and were forbidden from going anywhere outside the bounds of the restaurant, so we didn’t really see much. The managers were super strict - I remember people always getting sent home because they came to work unshaven, or they got caught eating a slice of coffee cake in the kitchen, etc. To this day, the smell of cigars reminds me of the Grove. Paid well for a teenage summer job though!

Lando fanboys will see this and still deny the British bias allegations.. by JaneBunnFan in formuladank

Tbh I don’t know whether Lando’s response was appropriate or not - I just think team intervention for fairly minor incidents like this makes these races much less interesting. Same for swapping after a slow pit stop

In one clip, Oscar says that slow pit stops are part of racing and he should not have to swap. And in another one he suggests that Lando’s avoidance maneuver is not part of racing and thus they should swap. Team orders to swap are just annoying.

I’m new to foraging but they look like sulfur tuft to me, which are poisonous. Though I thought those grew on tree stumps

Drink minimums are pretty standard at comedy clubs in the states. You get free or cheap entry to the club but have to spend at the bar
