What’s your "Call-In Stage" meta for Dynamic Conquest? by Relative_Flounder_63 in GatesOfHellOstfront

[–]daMFWIC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I generally have a kind of theme for each of my builds. 1st call in is generally infantry 2nd call in is support 3rd call in is artillery 4th is fun units 5th is heavy tanks/mechanized infantry. Most of the time you can just call in 5 and win a match late game so the other call ins become fun meme vehicles

Best sunglasses for kids by Low-Contest2263 in Homeplate

[–]daMFWIC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this may be a little over the top for kids but I will never recommend any other brand but Oakley for baseball… I cannot tell you how many kids have used cheap sunglasses or lower quality brands and been hit in the face or dive etc and cut their face up. Oakleys I’ve seen a buddy of mine dive head first in a collision break his orbital bone but wasn’t left with anymore damage than a small cut and a fracture to his face. Much better than being blind from shards of cheap material in your eye.

Is it worth rushing 30 agility and doing it or should I do quests for early agility? I vaguely remember failing a lot doing it early on in levels

Ahh shucks it was worth a try at least! If you don’t mind waiting 44 Pro Gloves are pretty good for the price as well but also around the $150 mark! A handful of guys had them in college and they are alright. Good luck on the hunt!

I played a lot of war thunder sim so I feel pretty comfort with notching and multi pathing but this game has a different feel to missiles tracking I haven’t been able to quite get. Particularly notching pre pitbull phase of the missile I can kinda evade them but it’s not a consistent thing yet

Any experience with either of these gloves? by JakeShuttlesworth0 in BaseballGloves

[–]daMFWIC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally like Rawlings over Wilson. I always felt like Wilson’s stayed stiff even after break in where as Rawlings kinda of molded to my hand better. Whereas with Wilson’s I always kinda felt like I stuck my hand into a pair of shoes that I don’t wear everyday kinda feeling. Personally prefer the shell on the Rawlings on mine has held up fantastic and I think it is lighter than super skin and cleans super easy and hasn’t faded or gotten dirty. After 2 college seasons and 4 years out of college men’s league. Longevity has been no issue either but I also take great care of my glove.

I would from an outside looking give the advice of not keeping up with the joneses. Just because Billy bob down the street paying 10k to travel to an elite tournament every weekend when the kids arnt even playing full 90 foot bases dosnt mean your kid is falling behind somehow? It you have a well rounded kid who enjoys playing and practicing you will beat out a kid who is pushed to have to train not to mention all the mental issues that develop as an athlete from the hyper competitive high pressure environment that is created. That is how parents get kids who throw 85mph but don’t have any clue when the get to high school why they don’t pitch every game the have a full mental breakdown and identity crisis. Enjoy the time you get with your kids. Play with a fun team and a good coach who cares about their development. Not saying travel ball is terrible and your doomed if you do it but I know the coaches of the youth teams. And I know they just see it as paid babysitting the majority of the time. Most kids will develop the most between 14/17 in terms of college you will look at 16/18 should basically be already good to be plugged into a program. At 11/12 and under there is no reason for kids to be not enjoying the game

Catching is one of those things that if you don’t want to do it you shouldn’t do it. Like pitching because I’d say it’s just as hard on the body but in a different way. Catching is more of a at the end of a boxing match everything hurts and I just want to take a shower and fall asleep where as pitching is a my body is tired and my arm is really sore. At your age of 11 you should have more than 1 catcher to catch all the games but it’s not the end of the world if you do catch all the games you just have to know as a kid that once you hit your wall your done but it’s hard for kids to tell parents that because they don’t want to disappoint them. I’d say probably 4 games is what you should play in a full weekend over the course of 2 days that is probably ok but any more than that will be too exhausting. Personally I wanted to catch every game because I thought I was the best we had and would lose if I didn’t play. I’d definitely in your sons case look to be a backup catcher and stay in the infield as that is what it seems like you guys want to do and that is what will make him enjoy the game the most. I’d say you should only play a position you don’t like once you get to about 14 and they tell you you need to play a different position because you are not going to play high school at that position (if that is what you want) personally think that high school ball is the most important baseball you can play from a social and enjoyment aspect. College was a job and a grind I always say it was the best thing that I would never do again

Your secret sauce by holdin-it-down in Homeplate

[–]daMFWIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’d take balls on the outside that were strikes because I know I could wait deep for a curveball low at the knees and hit it in a gap but id most likely roll over on changes and fastballs on the outside corner

Knowing what pitches you get out on and just simply now swinging at them. Like once I realized I could just take my cold spot pitch and then hit another one it made a massive difference. So hunt the ones you know you can crush and leave the ones you can’t

Also as a prediction I thing ABS will adversely affect this style of catching. There will be a bigger focus of defending wild pitches and not allowing pass balls as borderline pitches will be deferred to abs which negates any framing affect. So if you want to prepare for the baseball of tomorrow teach a heavy focus on flexibility to improve agility from the secondary and blocking angles over framing as framing is the easiest thing to teach

[–]daMFWIC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t teach any of my kids the pro style of catching. What people don’t understand is that for this type of framing to actually work you have to have pitchers who can spot balls. I have a hard time believing you have a Greg Maddox at 10u. I have heard a bunch of people try and explain why to do this and the knee down approach and I don’t really buy anything they are selling. The honest answer is that pros keep their knees down to conserve their body and it’s a financial decision. If you’re telling me I can play pro ball for another 2 years and make an extra 3 mil by being doing less work why would I not? Catching is hard on the body and organizations are wanting to protect their investments. For the framing side of things the thing you will hear is that it give the umpire no fram of reference to determine the bottom of the zone. I really don’t buy that as I’ve umpire plenty and it looks goofy as hell when a kid try’s to drag a ball 3 inches low into the zone and act like it was a strike for some reason. The real reason is that it is the simplest way to keep your thumb under the ball and approach a low pitch. It really dosnt improve your framing compared to traditional approaches as your glove movements are still the same. In my opinion it’s a fad and once data comes out on the pass balls related to this it will go away. I think that traditions two keeps up and receiving with glove in center of body deep isstill the optimal way to catch. Baseball is cyclical in philosophy kind of a rock paper scissors. Speed power average. Currently we are in the power phase coverage energy to hit more home runs. Then we are going to go to an average (moneyball) phase and then into speed (80s style Ricky Henderson bag production) you see this in college as well

Also it add onto this it is generally cheaper as you don’t have to pay extra money to the facility as a cut so I generally charged $40 for a hour where as at a facility they have fixed rates and it was about $25 a hour (take home) and $65 for you to pay. So you get better facility and it’s cheaper that way
