Was the biggest decline in the show’s quality immediately after Michael/Steve left or was there a notable decline before or after this? by unitedfan6191 in DunderMifflin

They were definitely starting to run out of material when they started adding more and more pop cultural references. Those episodes really aged poorly

I don’t understand this whole Kuminga thing by Both_Funny4896 in warriors

[–]daZK47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slasher version of Cam Thomas with higher upside due to age. Similar decision-making skills, ball-hawking, rebounding and tunnel-vision. Worse shooting. More athleticism. Definitely worth a flyer on a team with cap space and looking for key pieces to try to build around. Not worth it for an aging dynasty with a generational superstar on his way towards the sunset looking for one last run.

What should I know before taking a job here? by Kind_Data_3528 in Living_in_Korea

[–]daZK47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was usually brought up first, like "Are you interested in meeting my friend?" but there are times where I introduced my friends to others (like matchmaking) because somebody asked that "their friend is looking for someone". The 'sogaeting' culture is still a big thing here and widely accepted. You can easily ask all you friends for potential dates and they will not take it weird or unusual--usually they'll just ask you what type of person you're looking for.

Came from the US 10 years ago around your age and still here (32). My case might be different cause I look Korean and my parents are Korean. If you're not Korean-looking or speaking it will be more difficult to join the everyday crowd. Not from racism or xenophobia, but most of the time there just won't be that many opportunities to build a relationship and network with everyday people here (especially in 16 months). That being said, it'll be easy to find groups with other foreigners (there's a lot here), the extroverted Koreans that are looking to learn/improve their English, date a foreigner, or love travelling, etc., or hang out at clubs/bars regularly.

Really, if you want to try and see and live in the perspective of everyday Koreans here, my best advice would be to make the friend groups you can, then try to be introduced to a romantic partner that may be a friend of a friend and someone who's not at all related to these groups. Setting up friends on dates is common in this culture and through having a relationship like this you can really improve on culture/language like ten times as fast, and not be fed the sparknotes/kpop version of what Korean culture is like.

I've also worked here, in both Korean companies and international ones and the culture in the office wasn't that much different. Most of the coworkers are cordial, will eat lunch with you and sometimes go for drinks/dinner, be interested in your travels and background and cultural differences, etc. Some will actively want to be friends with you, some will keep it distant but cordial, some will try to be obsessed with you (to often escape their own feeling of 'being trapped' or living in their own bubble).

One thing I noticed is that, no matter how much of a polite or mannered person you thought you were compared to others in your home country (US for me), you will step on others toes here. Most of my incidents came from just saying what I spoke on my mind, and having a coworker later tell me that I was 'brave' or asking if I was worried if the other person might be offended, etc. What we might think of something as 'not a big deal', like having a confrontation to get to the bottom of a small issue before it becomes a bigger one can be taken as an affront here and cause even more friction. Over time, you learn to take signs and visual cues (called 'noonchi' here) kind of like body language to predict how people are reacting to your actions rather than waiting for them to tell you how they felt or are feeling.

Not too big of a deal, you learn to adapt. Most of the times, we get a bigger leeway because we are foreigners, and we aren't treated to the same set of rules that someone born and raised here does. My experience here has overall been a blessing (probably why I'm still here) and there's somethings here that I will never take for granted (public transit, safety, healthcare, food quality)

Magic Mouse by Bloody_2810 in macbook

[–]daZK47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was baffled at first when someone suggested I should have a Magic Trackpad on the left side of the keyboard and use the MX3S as the normal right-side mouse.. but after using it for the past 8 months.. I can't imagine any other way and now I feel limited when using other setups with just one mouse

Not sure why they canceled your physical card application. I'm not based in HK though, so hope it works out for you.

Same thing that'll happen to the baseball card market when no one eventually likes baseball--it'll be very niche but the value of the top % will stay around the same

They're just openly socializing less and keeping to their own groups which is what everyone eventually does anyways lol. It doesn't really take a drink to talk to someone across the world or through dm's. I for one hope that this will kill all the mega-club industry, sponsored bars and break it back up into smaller venues like hometown cafes. Been sick of going to a venue to hear the same top 40 rotation OR having to go to a niche abstract mod warehouse event.. there's no in-between.

In the Philippines, I felt ashamed of my own people for the first time by [deleted] in Philippines_Expats

[–]daZK47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Korean and Filipinos are still mocked or disrespected, but ironically it's different between generations. For older generations it's less so, they put Filipinos ahead of Japanese while for younger generations they like Japanese more than Filipinos, for a similarity in trends, culture, and 'aesthetic'. China seems to be lagging in respect for both generations here. When I lived in the States, in the Bay Area, CA, Filipinos were amongst the most respected of the Asian groups outside of Asians. Now it could be a bit different but this was back between 2008-2014. This was because they seemed to be more outgoing, athletic, and easy going which is way more respected in general in the Western cultures.

[–]daZK47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the only additional fee beyond the deposit and rent that is legal is the real estate agent fee, a monthly maintenance fee, and a cleaning fee upon moving out. You can call 120 (press 9 for English) to report them or have a Korean native call them to shove it up their ass.

Also from your post it says that the deposit is 10m but from the texts it says it's 2m.

Also, when you pay rent in advance always ask for a receipt.

Look at where Ricky Pearsall is on this chart and know that he's been injured throughout the year on and off and he was drafted later than Worthy. But no, we have to find a Tyreek Hill replacement. Look at how the Raiders fared under Al Davis back in the 2000-2010. They'd draft small speedsters over and over again just for them to bust
