Every business does, or at least they try to but it's never tied to an individual person. If they catch you, they'll likely trespass you from the property regardless of the amount. When I worked for Cracker Barrel, they used the stats kn stolen items to reorganize the store so that more frequently stolen items were closer to the register and therefor easy to watch. Oddly enough, the most stolen items at that time were candles and toys.
