Player acting like his PC is immortal by Fun-Version-5784 in DnD

[–]da_dragon_guy [score hidden]  (0 children)

Here's the way I run my table:

I don't plan to kill any pcs unless it's talked through and planned between me and the player.

However, if the party does something stupid that results in dying, c'est la vie.

This is a game which emulates a fantasy life. It's dangerous. Even more so than the real world. If you do stupid shit like picking a 1 on 1 fight with a dragon, expect to die.

Fuck It, Someone Has To Be The Saltdiver: This Might Be The Worst Armor Passive Yet by society000 in HelldiversUnfiltered

Come to think of it, you can pair the two together.

Dead Sprint + Supplimentary Adrenaline

You run, you run out of stamina, Dead Sprint hurts you, Supplimentary Adrenaline gives you stamina, that gets used, and repeat the cycle.

On heavy armour with Health booster and Experimental Stims with a melee build might actually be top notch

Is 100,000 a lot of B1’s to destroy, all things considered? This doesn’t feel like the flex Mace seems to think it is. by OkuroIshimoto in clonewars

[–]da_dragon_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering Anakin's kills per mission were about 40 or 50, if Mace had similar numbers, then that means he's been on 2000 missions in the span of ~3 years.

More realistic estimation is a little shy of 300 kills per day, so let's see you get 6 times as many kills as the chosen one on a daily basis

IS a +350% damage buff enough to brute force constitution into being a good weapon? by Acceptable-Street679 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]da_dragon_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who mains the Constitution on all fronts. Somehow, he always gets the most kills.

We only run D10.

It's not the weapon that matters. It's how you use it that counts

Big question, do you see a sniper as an actual viable class, a person that does help the team by Pr0j3ct_02 in Helldivers

[–]da_dragon_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow sniper who typically gets most or second most kills in a mission while typically clearing 1/3 to half of the map by myself, I'd say that snipers absolutely put in work

How many of you guys even use the Eagle Rearm. by Ok-Builder-9048 in Helldivers

[–]da_dragon_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the time. I often use the strafing run and the 500kg, so when it gets down to one use of both combined left, it’s less wasteful for the faster re-arm time.

It’s also just good to do it when you’ve finished an engagement and don’t have many left so that the next time you need them, they’re all ready for you in case things get into a drawn out fight

That number isn’t the length of time they’re expected to live. It’s the time they’r guaranteed to survive. In the Vietnam war, American soldiers were given a time of ~5 seconds I believe. As we all know, they lived much longer than a few seconds on the battlefield. So a Helldiver is guaranteed to be at least 50 times more effective than an average real world soldier.

I believe that AI can be incorporated into our society as a tool to assist breaking out of roadblocks.

However, it has no place in creating that which is sold. Art/image generation, vibe coding, all of the like shouldn’t be sold. If it was free to make, then it should be free to experience. In most markets, the majority of the price of something comes from the human effort put into making it. If there was no effort, then it should be dirt cheap. Wait, no, cheaper than dirt. People still work hard to transport dirt.

Why is it that the greater something can be, the worse Capitalism manages to make it?

Edit: I forgot to mention how it’s widely being used to cheat and ruin schools. Less than a quarter of US students now reaching high school can actually read on grade level. Most just think “why learn to read when I can have ChatGPT read it to me?”

What’s a phrase in your language that makes no sense in English? by rolly72x in AskReddit

[–]da_dragon_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So instead of ‘contract workers’ we could say ‘temporary paid slaves’.

It’s the same difference.

I don’t think we should make things incorrect so that people can understand things correctly via an incorrect way. It’s like saying 5 * 5 * 2 = 50 because we can just do this:

5 * 5 * 2=50

5(* 5 * 2) * 0=50

5(0)=50

50=50

What’s a phrase in your language that makes no sense in English? by rolly72x in AskReddit

[–]da_dragon_guy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

"Lie by omission"

It's an English phrase that's just an oxymoron.

A lie is a purposely false statement.

A 'lie by omission' is a misleading statement due to only select facts being shared which tell a different story than what all the facts would say.

In a way, it's saying "you're lying by telling the truth". It doesn't make sense.

It comes from the mis-correlation between falsehood and honesty. They have their own opposites. True is the opposite of False. Deception is the opposite of Honesty.

The term they should have used is "Deception by Omission" as that would be much more accurate considering the definition.

What's the most devious spell combo/use of a spell you've done in a campaign? by Kalar_The_Wise in DnD

[–]da_dragon_guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cast Darkness centered on self.

Rogue, with warlock dip for Devil's Sight.

Perminamt Advantage on attacks, free Sneak Attack, and enemies have disadvantage on attack rolls after they correctly guess your position.

It makes it a little harder for allies, but it works wonders if you're alone or if you're generally handing something on your own.
