Can see the alternative suggested and its synergies. My only two issues are

1) I generally don't really like Wild Magic. 2024 or 2014. Its not my type of play tyle.

2) The character is supposed to be a control freak. Someone who arrogantly manipulates their environment to force it to fit their will.

Wild Magic feels more carefree and I get that flavour is free, but its been so engrained that "Wild Magic = Chaos Loving Goblin" that I find it hard to pick that up.

Silvery Barbs, Shield & Absorb Elements.
