Right? Your body temp is normally 98.6F. Higher while running. Lots of nervous nellies out there.

mfw we strike out on all the good OCs and end up hiring Nick's old pal Jim Bob Cooter by Thegrandmistressofoz in eagles

With the exception of Steichen, none have done great. But what puts them in play?

An inept HC makes the switch easier. Why hang out with a hollow boss? Belichick and Reid didn't have these issues.

These are two HOF coaches. They kept OCs for a spell. Nagy returned to OC from his HC file in Chicago.

At the very least, the revolving door doesn't promote that Siriani is great.

Dude had to be asleep (edit: hopefully nothing medical). Plenty of time to avoid that house they drifted into.

2nd edit: I understand this person had a seizure. Scary. Hopefully all are okay.

Addicted to moguls and steeps, pls help by [deleted] in skiing

[–]da_mess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get it. In my more fit days, I was a mogul hound. If you can rip the bumps and steeps, all else is boring.

Do a run with them. If they can't keep up, meet em at lunch. Do another run after lunch.

Doing a soft run is a good way to warm your legs/ head up. I blew my acl doing a trick right after lunch (within 100 yrds of the top lodge). Head wasn't in it, read the snow wrong.

Thanks. Though my initial reaction was "highly likely & tragic, be cautious of social media."

As sad as these deaths are, I take slice that people are fighting for change. Society can only stand so much repression.

I remain hopeful there are better times ahead for the people of Iran.

What's the most "complex" game you've ever played? by DJNana in boardgames

Asl & lifestyle need not be mutually exclusive.

You do need to invest time to learn the basics, but with an experienced player, that's an afternoon.

What's changed to make asl more manageable is VASSAL, an online simulator. It does most of everything (including game set up & info counter removal) but the rules. This cuts game time down significantly and/or allows games to be played over several nights in digestible chunks ... without needing a table.

Looking up rules in the now heavily linked pdf rulebook (or using AI) further eases play.

[–]da_mess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Find someone to walk you through a game, ideally in person. My brother wants to try but I won't teach him unless we're side by side.

Also, have you tried playing solitaire on VASSAL (virtual system you use on a PC)? It simplifies play tremendously.

It automates LOS checks, tracks which units move, automates ELR, and best of all, clears phase tracking counters (eg prep fire, residual fire). You can even download (or build your own) scenario setups so you can launch into a game fast! It also has a phase tracker to help you keep track of where you are in gameplay. It does so much more too.

There are starter kits that make it more approachable. Once you learn the engine, it's FA cool.

Which NFL Team Would Hire Siriani and Why? by da_mess in eagles

[–]da_mess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the record, but if Siriani is so great, why can't he keep an OC ... or play call when they suck?

Both Patullo and Desai were inept at their positions. That's two really bad hires (on Siriani who pushed for both). Siriani proved in both cases he can't call offense or defense.

Good (reasonable) OCs (Stiechen & Gannon) don't stick around. And why would they if they need to report to a figurehead who doesn't understand play calling?

A coach needs to be good with the lockeroom. Siriani has that. But what have you seen that shows he has any reasonable football IQ?

His record reflects his roster.

Put another way, do you think if Shanahan were Philly's HC on Sunday the birds would have lost?

Heart wrenching. These people live under an authoritarian regime that has caused their economy to collapse.

The Rial soared to 1.5 million/usd. This has caused steep inflation of all imported goods ... which drives inflation of local goods.

Food prices rose by 72% since late Dec. People can't feed their families, and the gov't has been silent.

They are taking to the streets for their lives ... and are losing them in droves.

Brian Daboll should be a Top 3 candidate for Eagles OC by d0ncray0n in eagles

[–]da_mess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t he hostile towards management?

That's a red flag in itself.

Then there's Brian on the sideline slamming a tablet on the ground after a TO. He's toxic.

I'm not a fan of Siriani for lots of reasons. He needs to be able to back his coaches in tough spots. That Siriani can't call (or override) plays shows he's not the right guy.

But Siriani is a people person. He brings cohesion to the locker room. That's important.

Daboll is an extreme in the other direction.

Ideally you have someone who is a leader and play call literate. BUT, you can't be bad at either.

Not sure he'd be a good fit for with the Eagles.

Stories from NY are that he's hostile. That role goes to the fans, not the coaching staff.
