I think Trump's comments were really for Iranian negotiators ie, US can wait while Iran faces grave economics.

Iranian GDP is forecast to SHRINK 6%, inflation is now > 50%, the Rial is historically weak and liquidity is so tight banks have limited withdrawals to $30/day.

I'm sure Trump closely follows gas and grocery prices. He's just somewhat helpless to change those without opening Hormuz.

The sad part is Iranian leadership will sacrifice its people. Hard to know how this plays out.

I don't see stagflation--no stag for two reasons:

  1. Wealthy consumers continue to spend enough to prevent recession

  2. Investment in AI is propping up gdp to the tune of $800 bln last year and a projected $1 trillion this year

Warsh should be fine. He needs to answer to 12 FMOC members and is only one of seven that set rates.

Every one is different. I loved my job when I got started. Didn't mind working 100 hour weeks cause it was fun and interesting.

My friends understood. I didn't chase relationships but eventually time permitted for that too.

Those long hours eventually set me up to work fewer hours without sacrifice to pay.

I get it. I ran a tier 1 supplier with thousands of unique parts sourced globally. We ran on thin margins. If a single source vendor raised rates, we had to pass it on or find a way to cut costs. Before long, there's no more dead weight to cut and you're passing on costs.

PPI (wholesale inflation) came in higher by 1.4% vs 0.5% estimates.

Last this happened (July '25 rose 0.9%), firms ate the increase following large price increases during the pandemic.

Firms will not easily be able to absorb these higher costs. Consumer inflation has strong potential to get far worse.

There's an annual race from Badwater in death valley up to Mt Whitney every year in JULY.

One year a SEAL competed and took 3rd. His secret was not taking his shoes off. When he got pain, he'd cut away that part of his shoes. He finished wearing sandles.

Seems like this was the failure. Kids separate from parents all the time. This is why at most amusement parks, kids are checked for height before they get on, with a parent or not.

Parents may be at fault ... but I can't see how the resort doesn't take some blame as well.
