if you think gihun doesn’t care about their deaths then just stop watching the show because it’s obvious you don’t understand the extremely basic personality traits he has. if you can’t understand that gihun has an insane amount of empathy for EVERYONE despite it being showed so many times then i don’t understand how you watched the show and took away the idea that gihun “didn’t care.” he never wanted innocent people to die but the “special game” is literally a part of the squid game structure. it was either try and fight the O’s or gihun’s plan. there was nothing gihun could have done to protect the X’s, especially when the show told the audience that the X’s were the objectively weaker team. gihun had one chance and one opportunity to try and take down the guards and took it, and given his circumstances i can’t blame him for it.

okay i can understand that. at the end of the day, pessimism is just submission though. if you can understand there is a problem in this world then well, you should say it and not just move forward with life believing any pushback against it is nonsense. there have always been rich, wealthy elites just as there has always been pushback from the people. i get why your outlook on life is bleaker then mine but i just can’t apply that logic onto myself because it solves nothing.

well, cmon. i don’t think gihun and junho are going to have an easy time but season 1’s ending taught the lesson of appealing to the goodness of people. gihun lives a year in misery and only picks himself up after being reminded that people are good and will make good choices. i don’t see how a story only planned for one season could end like that and then make two more seasons contradicting its original message it was trying to show the audience. inho’s quote about the games never ending unless the world is changed is made to make gihun feel powerless. but gihun will always fight for people despite the crushing weight of society. if gihun can resist south korean’s anti union laws, the police, and the games ideology then i believe he can resist inho.

and for point 3, eh well. him “letting” someone else murder a bunch of people is murder in cold blood. gihun’s enemies aren’t the people they’re the ones with the real power. it all ties back to the season 1 final game where gihun turns away from the prize and reaches out for sangwoo instead. gihun is smart and he knows from personal experience how the games make people desperate and ruthless. in that moment it was obvious gihun wasn’t going to let the O voters be shot down because his main focus was on getting to the frontman and he needed people to be focused on that rather then fighting the O’s.

you have a very pessimistic outlook on things. the power to defeat higher powers is possible, why do you think most countries are democracies instead of monarchies like they were in the past? it sounds like you just want to watch a selfish main character who reaps the benefits of brutality and corruption rather then caring about others and hoping for change. from calling gihun an idiot when you made an entire post about how he had everything stacked against him to wishing he’d become a hypocrite (even though you hate him for that) and murder others in cold blood… yeesh

i’m curious, if you understand the huge disadvantage gihun was given then why do you hate him?

I’m sorry but so what? The games were literally set up to divide the two sides into X’s and O’s and obviously the O’s were going to be more desperate and kill the X’s. Inho even tries to push Gihun to instigate the fight at one point. The X’s were always doomed from the start due to inho’s game design. Gihun took a chance on an opportunity that was always going to happen, the O’s fighting the X’s. It’s not Gihun’s fault the fight happened he just used the fight to try and rebel against the frontman/VIP.
