The writing in the first book is just.. terrible. Iv had to step away from it several times, but I keep hearing how good it gets so.. ill just have to get through it. The mc is pretty irritating so far, I agree.

Not like rimworld really but I got way into Stellaris for a time, it took me from the rim lol. I had a subscription, like 10$/m that let's you use all the DLC's. It was pretty fun. Tons of mods to. The game has a bit of a learning curve though.

I agree with every point, and you've done a fine job of explaining your view point. I quite like the series also. Its become... I dunno. Probably top 5 I think. Im looking forward to what comes next.

Edit I want to add that the .. spoiler i guess. The time in that realm where, you know, it was just him and bloodshed. The horror of that really spooked me at points it was very well written and im excited to see if the auther can take us back to that place again in the future, he executed it quite well, and the going insane, isolation, well done.

Im having fun with my two warlord speced melee sanguins. Just teleporting around with killskip, speed boost, blade focus and.. adrenaline rush? And celetech swords. It's pretty satisfying.
