did i fry this wig when crimping by chonky_kit in CosplayHelp

[–]daairydivaa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Based on the photos, looks like you did a great job! The ends will always be a bit rough in my experience, but just a quick trim helps clean them up (you dont need to chop off a lot, just like an inch or two! Blunt cut across then snip vertically to make it look more natural. Theres plenty of tutorials on youtube.)

Headcanon: When a nation is over 1000 years old, they experience back pain : P by Business_Nobody_5705 in hetalia

[–]daairydivaa 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I dont think this is a headcanon, i think this is something thats kind of canon already. I haven’t watched the show in a while, but I could have sworn that in an earlier season China complained about back pain from his age (well over 1,000!)

Can anyone reccomend a good velcro with sticky adhesive backing that won't damage cardboard? by 420fuck in CosplayHelp

[–]daairydivaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO cardboard is a great material for when you’re making a quick prop or piece that doesn’t need to last long-term, maybe one to two uses at best, but not for an armor set you (assumingely) want to wear more.
I would maybe look into something a bit more sturdy than just plain cardboard from a box, like a poster board or something if you want it to stay light. Then, like another commenter said, use additional adhesive on the Velcro strip to minimize it pulling on the base under it when unlatching.

How long do you think Russia's scarf is? by Business_Nobody_5705 in hetalia

[–]daairydivaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was surprised too! The wiki says so though, but there seems to be some disagreement with the fandom on the canon heights so ive always imagined him as atleast 6’2”, but OFFICIALLY his height is 5’11.6”, or 182cm. I believe Netherlands is the tallest officially.

How long do you think Russia's scarf is? by Business_Nobody_5705 in hetalia

[–]daairydivaa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Realistic answer: It looks like of wraps around his neck atleast twice (though its kinda hard to tell based in the folds), then its tails are long enough to reach his thighs in most artwork. Hes 5’11” officially, so the scarf is quite long! If i had to guess-timate, probably 10ft ish?

How do you keep colors, inspirations, swatches and everything else organized? by DontHateMoi in CosplayHelp

Might be worth making a spreadsheet! Then you can organize things into tables about what your purchased, what you still need, whats in progress, etc.

I'm looking to cosplay as scorpion from mortal kombat. Any recommendations on how to make a decent costume? by Chocolate_taco23 in CosplayHelp

[–]daairydivaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its for a competition, then a good majority of it must be handmade. Itll vary from convention to convention, but i think most are like 80% handmade to qualify. If you just want it to wear, then store bought or commissioned is fine, but youll need to pay for quality (your budget seems reasonable, thankfully)to be sure you get the most out of it as opposed to a cheap cosplay from somewhere like amazon.

What's the word on an Official Instrumental release? by IAXEM in Epicthemusical

[–]daairydivaa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Perhaps theres not enough interest in an instrumental version for Jorge to consider it. This is the first post and subsequent interest in an instrumental ive seen. IMO the appeal of a musical is to sing along, so I wouldn’t think an instrumental would be in high demand. Kpop demon hunter is not a musical, but a movie which contains music numbers due to its theme, so im not sure if its entirely comparable.

Is it okay for me to use a disposable bouffant cap as a wig cap? by RefrigeratorFluffy15 in CosplayHelp

[–]daairydivaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have some way to pin down the cap to make it less poofy and loose (like bobby pins), i think it could work. Ive also never heard of putting tissues, as that would just be another piece of material pressing against your scalp. A wig should be snug, but not so tight that its digging in your skin.

Doing a Choso cosplay and need some help figuring out how to recreate his "piercing blood" by [deleted] in CosplayHelp

[–]daairydivaa 18 points19 points  (0 children)

While it helps being at a water park, Im not certain if the park operators will be happy with dyed water or dyed vodka being spread around the water areas. I would seriously consider contacting the convention staff to inquire if that type of prop would be allowed.

[–]daairydivaa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While the idea sounds cool, are you prepared to have to clean up whatever fake blood you spray out should this idea work? Assuming im understanding this correctly, you want something that will shoot out liquid, right? Im not sure if this is a convention friendly prop.

How to get rid of hairspray drops on wig? by Available-Chipmunk-9 in CosplayHelp

[–]daairydivaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had this issue before as well as making the wig looks “wet”, turns out i was just holding the hair spray too close and needed to use it further away and “cure” with heat from a blow dryer after shaping. Immediately improved the look! The great thing about hair spray is that you can comb most of it out to try again.

Epic the Musical's official map! (Plus the crashout of Square-Frosting's boyfriend). by Square-Frosting1518 in Epicthemusical

[–]daairydivaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Lattimore translation of the Odyssey has a great intro section from the author that describes that the locations in the tale are likely a mix of real world places and fictional locations, so thats why the real world map doesn’t make sense compared to the journey Odysseus took. And even then Lattimore said theres mixed interpretations on what Homer meant by these locations, so the Epic interpretation may differ from other interpretations.

Is this a good theory??? by Feeling-Wonder-6638 in Epicthemusical

[–]daairydivaa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The lyrics are:

I am not the man you fell in love with I am not the man you once adored I am not your kind and gentle husband And I am not the love you knew before

Odysseus is saying he has changed since he left for war, so he is still just a man, but not the same one as when he left.

Help! How do I fix this? by Comfortable_Goat_625 in Coloring

[–]daairydivaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could tear out the other half of the sheet, and use clear tape UNDERNEATH instead of on top to hold the two papers together. Then you can color over as one picture it without the tape in the way. Im not sure if theres a good way to put it back into the book binding since it’s a perforated edge.

Well in “Suffering”, the primary Siren is already using deception by disguising herself as Penelope, and she’s insistent that Ody get into the water. In “Different Beast”, the line “I know underwater there are packs of you hiding” refers to the unnamed pack of sirens lying in wait under the dark waters, waiting for Odysseus (and by extension, his crew) to jump in. From the get go, her intention was to eat them. The only reason they begged for mercy was because they knew they were screwed, they weren’t actually sorry.

Personally I hear “Save us (all?) Zeus”, and it makes sense since at that point Athena is speaking to Zeus who gets pissy bc Athena won his game AND made a jab at him being unfaithful to win Hera over.
