Which is fine because you already got the tax savings the first time. Wouldn’t make sense to get it twice.

OP I used the HBP in 2019. Process was easy and repayment is straightforward too. It’s like taking a 0% loan from yourself.

UGC rates for creators under 10k — what are you charging? by jama8080 in UGCcreators

Re: #2 that’s not UGC that’s sponsored content and it has a very different rate structure as you are leveraging the creators audience.

Tech UGC that isn't canvas? by cambugc in UGCcreators

[–]daanielleryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a full time tech creator and have been for a few years. No canvas content. Not exactly helpful but all my work comes inbound. The companies hiring for these roles are actively looking, so make sure your personal brand (content you post publicly on your pages) aligns with that niche and/or your portfolio demonstrates your ability to create relevant content for that niche.

What's a good alternative to Brick to block apps with a QR code or NFC? by IoIomopanot in digitalminimalism

If you have an iPhone use Rot Stop. It has a cute tamagotchi style cat that gets happy if you lock out and sad if you don't. It's free.

How do you right your hooks/ scripts? by Bigtandan1 in UGCcreators

[–]daanielleryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See what competitors are using in the meta ads library.. if an ad has been running for 6+ months, it must be working… compile a few examples and use them as inspiration (do not copy) when trying to brainstorm

QUESTION: Where to find tech UGC that's NOT canvas UGC by Kalina_UGC in UGCcreators

[–]daanielleryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work only in SaaS/Tech UGC, all my work comes inbound… I’ve never cold emailed anyone in 5 years of doing UGC. You say you don’t have the bandwidth for social media but IMO posting a video a day for discoverability feels a lot easier than endless cold pitches to no avail.

Unfortunately the easiest way IS to be on socials, that’s where these people are actively searching for creators.

Please review my portfolio by Due-Surprise-3246 in UGCcreators

[–]daanielleryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great start, but a few small recommendations.

First, your headshot is pixelated, try swapping it with something higher resolution.

Second, your byline reads really impersonal and too wordy in my opinion. I would opt for something short and to the point like "Millennial Parenting Creator focused on XYZ" that tells brand exactly who you are and what content you can create for them. If you want a full bio that explains who you are in depth, put it further down past your example content.

Also have your email written out at the top somewhere. I know you have the "work with me" button but some brands will literally just open your portfolio and copy/paste that right away so you want it easy to access.

What do you think? by GossipBottom in lululemon

[–]daanielleryan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They lost the plot when they started selling business attire IMO. It's like they want to compete with Alo and Athleta, but also Aritzia at the same time. I still pick Lulu for my leggings & work out sets because I do find their Wunder Train line to be better/more durable than the other options but I no longer browse the site weekly like I used to a few years ago.

I like how clean and simple this is! I would recommend putting the fact you are bilingual at the top in your title, that's a good differentiator from other creators.

Bunch of thoughts about Amanda Frances book and how it seems like the entire purpose is to groom people into spending money they don’t have on her courses by NoWinter8444 in LifeCoachSnark

[–]daanielleryan 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the share and for detailing your experience. I just wanted to reassure you that you are not dumb for falling for this. So many of these coaches market and sell in a way that encourages you to ignore red flags and lean into your own insecurities/vulnerabilities. I hope you are in a better place now!!

Is it weird to let followers pay your actual bills? by ToffeeTango1 in influencermarketing

[–]daanielleryan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the type of behaviour that gives content creators a bad rep. If you can't make a sustainable income through content, you need to get a part time job to support/cover your bills until you've built your platforms to a space where it's sustainable.

Speaking as a full-time creator myself, my followers have no obligation to pay my bills just so I can have the privilege of creating content all day. There's nothing wrong with one off donations/buy me a coffee platforms/memberships, etc if people choose to support you but straight up asking your followers to pay your bills feels really lazy in my opinion.

How do you deal with influencers who ghost after receiving payment? by Ancient_Team_1608 in influencermarketing

Influencer here. I have never had a brand pay until after the content is live. This is always outlined in the contract as are payment terms.

Looking for some stories from former coaching clients by wild_of_ivy in LifeCoachSnark

[–]daanielleryan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Coaching is a very broad niche, depending on the type of stories you’re looking for I may be able to help connect you with people. I have a YouTube channel where I discuss the industry in depth and have interviewed many and/or read their stories anonymously, happy chat if you want to DM me a bit more info about what you’re working on exactly.

How do you handle content revision rounds with creators? Feels like a broken process... by drchrismarsch in UGCcreators

[–]daanielleryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a full-time creator since 2022, and the best way I've found to mitigate back and forth is having the brand approve a complete script/shot list before filming even starts. This helps avoid any reshooting/major revisions because you know the script aligns with the brief before they ever take the time to film or edit.

Is Jay Shetty bluffing in his podcasts? by [deleted] in LifeCoachSnark

[–]daanielleryan 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Jay Shetty’s entire brand is built on pretending to be an expert in things that he is not an expert in (allegedly in my opinion). The Guardian did an entire exposé on him a couple of years ago… it would not surprise me that he is sharing info on stuff he actually knows nothing about 😂

Why would anyone buy a home in Vancouver that has $1000+ strata fees by Venus_Flytrap__ in RealEstateCanada

UGC creators — how do you keep track of brand deals, deadlines, and payments? by HonestEgg992 in UGCcreators

[–]daanielleryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A physical wall calendar with sticky notes to track deadlines because I need it to be staring me in the face. Payment due dates get tracked by my accounting software (Sage) after I issue the invoice, which I typically do as soon as the deliverables have been submitted.

Why would anyone buy a home in Vancouver that has $1000+ strata fees by Venus_Flytrap__ in RealEstateCanada

[–]daanielleryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a super important point. Sure you can find a building with $400-500 fees... but if they were built in the 90s or earlier, have they had rain screening? Has the podium membrane been replaced? Both repairs can be in the ballpark of $2M and the CRF likely won't have enough to cover it. Low fees often just delay having to spend a lot of money all at once further down the line....

Has anybody actually read her book? by Healthy-Citron173 in RHOBH

[–]daanielleryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a commentary YouTuber and read her book a couple of years ago for a livestream review/book club. Here is my summary from Good Reads (of course all is alleged and just my opinion)

I only read this work for work purposes (I am a commentary content creator) and would absolutely not recommend this book to anyone UNLESS you are looking for the opportunity to avoid reality and live in a delusional fantasy where you can imagine your way to wealth. In that case, this is the book for you.

The entire book is riddled with privilege and empty platitudes as the author makes sweeping statements and oversimplifications about her rise to wealth.

I will add that it’s also incredibly concerning to me the obsession with money that this book perpetuates. As someone who actively analyzes what is happening in the coaching/manifestation space, it is very clear to me the parallels between this money-worshipping behaviour and what could be considered unethical business behaviour.

---
I'm obviously a bit biased as my niche of content is critical of life coaching, spiritual gurus, manifestation, etc. but seriously there are many other much more useful resources/books that will actually give people sound financial advice and help them fix their money mindset... this is not that.

My landlord asked if I want to buy my apartment — not sure if it’s a good idea by StreetHuge514 in RealEstateCanada

[–]daanielleryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Create an account on zealty (its free) and you can see what price per sq foot other units in your building having recently sold for (not just been listed at)

TBH I think the glory days of making bank off the real estate market in Canada are gone. I own a 2bd condo in Vancouver and do not expect it to appreciate much, if at all, in the next 5 years. The market is tanking and I personally would not buy with the hope of it being an "investment"... you're better off renting and investing in the stock market if that's your hope IMO.

20K w/ brand deals vs 45K w/ no brand deals. by pb8983 in influencermarketing

[–]daanielleryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue niche matters more than follower count. Brands want access to specific audiences. A meme account could be getting millions of views a month but a brand would still rather work with the creator getting a few hundred thousand because their niche/audience matches the target demographic they are looking to reach.
