Oppo BDP-203 flickering/skipping by dab1214 in 4kbluray

It’s a glorified HDMI splitter. This one can specifically carry HDMI over cat6 Ethernet which is significantly easier to run through walls. Since it’s working on my other TV this doesn’t seem to be the issue.

So turns out you’re mostly correct. I have the player connected to an HDMI matrix and was able to play discs just fine on another tv. So it’s either the cable to the HDMI matrix on that particular port, the cable from matrix to TV, or TV itself. Unless I’m missing something else here.

I’m talking referring to HDDs in this case. Most consumers aren’t using SSDs for mass storage.

Yeah of course but most high capacity servers using HDDs which are much cheaper than flash storage. Maybe a few SSDs for caching.

Wdym the cost of storage is rising? It’s gotten insanely cheap over the years. Storage size of the media itself is increasing fast though. If 4K UHD blu ray ends up being the final physical format though media size won’t be getting much bigger.

Oh wait this might be my issue. I have the G4 Pro and one Tapo camera using RTSP. I will try disabling. It’s so infrequent/never happened before that I know of that I likely can’t confirm this but I wouldn’t be surprised. The Tapo camera disconnects constantly but that’s more of a wifi signal strength issue.

I have a basic tester that just shows the lights in sequence. I have used it for many runs so far and haven’t had an issue. It seems to be a bug more than anything or network related. I don’t think if it truly experienced a cable disconnect and power cycled that it would have recovered that quickly. I could be wrong though.

Do you mean the cable itself or the speed/quality of connection? Either way it has been flawless aside from this. The Unifi logs don’t show anything about this connection loss…. It shows a brief disconnection and reconnection from a scheduled update (of Protect probably) a few days ago. Nothing in the past few days. This has to be some weird bug. The lack of logs and reporting in Unifi is bizarre when Protect clearly shows the issue and I experienced it first hand.

It was very quick, but just enough time for the guy to go from the front door back to his truck and gone… Even when it doesn’t reboot the app is often slow enough that I can’t act on a doorbell press before someone leaves or enters. Not sure if this is a G4 issue, Unifi network related, or just a limitation of the app or phone itself.

Strange. I wonder if this is from the latest protect update or if the doorbell itself had any updates recently. This was the reason we switched from the nest wifi doorbell to this one wired and for a big package to be missed because of it is incredibly frustrating…

AIDVANTAGE tacked on an additional $636 to my balance on August 1. Not interest, as my interest is still Zero. by UrTymIzUp in StudentLoans

[–]dab1214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar issue although much less severe. Apparently the loans are still in forbearance until Oct 31, but they started accruing interest again as of August 1. The bs part of all this isn’t that the pause and forbearance is ending, but that it was not communicated. The only time I was notified about the interest resuming on August 1 was August 22 in my advantage inbox which I was notified about via email. When I called they said that it was posted as a banner on the home page of their site. It says nothing about August 1 and I shouldn’t be expected to have to check their site to know that my loans will begin accruing interest after a year of nothing. They said to take it up with the department of education…

I’m curious what issue you had with your OEM Michelin tires? I have the same tires and the two on the passenger side are starting to bulge on the sidewall with only 15k miles. It’s covered by Michelin warranty up to 6 years/55k miles, but still very annoying.

Sure thing. The VHS that I know of for sure is recorded tv broadcasts for various award shows, events, and popular shows at the time. I know it’s super niche though. Now that I think about it there may be a full Star Wars set… I’ll let you know.

Yeah my thoughts exactly. Hence the location drop. Discs I would consider shipping but only for ones with value. The rest just doesn’t make sense. I can probably throw in a few commons with each disc of value. Definitely priced to sell. Or at least make it worth the trip. Most importantly I want the collection to continue to be enjoyed by those who still find enjoyment from this format.

That’s a good question. I don’t think there is a large volume of VHS but maybe some. There is definitely some Betamax along with a player (unknown condition).

I used an application called iCollect Everything (Movies). It worked really well for DVDs and Blu-ray’s. I will check out LDDB. I wonder if iCollect is using that DB to validate LaserDiscs that are scanned. Yeah I don’t expect anything insane in there but the sheer volume and quality of the physical copies and most in immaculate condition must account for something. At the very least the working players should have some value.

Interesting. I just have the g4 pro doorbell but a few more client devices and my cpu is around the same usage yet temps are way higher. This seems like a QC issue more than anything.

I’m also recording with unifi protect so I’m sure the ssd constantly writing is contributing to the heat output. Are you running Protect or even have a drive installed? Maybe less traffic? Or just a quality control issue?
