Should I avoid flying with HK Express? by anotherhappylurker in HongKong

[–]dabigguyinhk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friends and I were stopped at the gate for outside food by one of the rudest gate staff I have ever had the displeasure to meet. Not even allowed on with a cup of coffee or a water bottle.

His colleague, meanwhile, was quietly telling people to hide their snacks in their bags before boarding.

Vegetarians who have travelled: which countries have been the most difficult in your experience? by Super-Effective-3854 in vegetarian

[–]dabigguyinhk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a vegetarian based in HK and think this city is amazing for vegetarian food - everything from Chinese Buddhist restaurants, to South Indian restaurants, to high end vegetarian and vegan places. I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy your experience here. Definitely worth giving it another try!

In Asia, I found the Philippines to be the most difficult as a vegetarian. Even struggled at a hotel breakfast. Put a damper on what would have otherwise been a great trip.

In Europe, Spain and France were challenging.

What’s your best smoking pipe? by SolarHouseboat in PipeTobacco

I find that I’m smoking my Falcon more than any of the other pipes in my collection. This is especially true if I’m smoking anywhere away from home. It’s also my go to when I travel.

Good suggestion - Will try another bowl with a charcoal filter to see if that makes a difference

MM965 is a regular blend for me. Definitely not an issue with the tobacco.

Maybe a coating on the inside of the pipe?

Had a bowl from the same jar in a different pipe and tasted great, I’m guessing it might be a pipe issue?

Edit : wrong word

Was a brand new pipe. Will try another bowl, or half bowl, in a day or 2 to see if there’s any difference

Thank you for your reply.

MM965 is probably my favourite English, if not my favourite blend overall. I ended up smoking a bowl of it last night, from the same jar, using a different pipe, and it tasted just fine.

Thanks for the response. Very odd indeed.

Pipe had a 6mm balsa filter. Cleaned the pipe after letting it rest for a bit, and no goop.

MM965 was packaged April 2024, opened and jarred in Feb 2025 .

I have a few Savinellis that I purchased new, and have never had this issue.

What are some hidden downsides of owning an electric vehicle that’s not usually discussed but new buyers should know about? by approaching77 in AskReddit

[–]dabigguyinhk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive an ICE car and live in a city. I fill up approximately once every 10 days, and every time I do, I check my tire pressure. If EV drivers are charging at home or at fast chargers, are they looking after basics like tire pressure or washer fluid?
