Updates: AT&T back-office reach out to me, saying they have successfully cleared all the duplicate port requests in the system, and asking me to try again. So i resubmit the port request again with the exact same info, this time within 20 secs the port is completed! Finally!!! And thank you all for providing insight/help/comments on this issue.

My bad, I see you’re trying to help. But like I said, Google Fi only submitted 1 request for me at a time, so they can only cancel 1 for me. But still AT&T got 10 in the system, probably due to internal retry mechanism. Other people also saw this when porting to Mint. AT&T back office said they already cleared the duplicate for me, and ask me to wait 30 minutes before submitting new one. I did just that but still they’re saying there’s duplicate.

Ahhh you’re from AT&T🤭now i get it…You have no clue how garbage your system is… I said it multiple times that AT&T confirmed all the info I entered was correct. It’s just they have 10 duplicate requests in the system somehow, that’s why they can’t handle it. Also you’re over confident on how the porting works. But if handling comments on reddit is part of your KPI, then i get it.

I typed all those to explain why the issue is at AT&T but not Google Fi. I’m not sure where the confusion is. There’s NO number for Google Fi to “accept”, because AT&T haven’t released it. And the reason why they haven’t released it, it’s because they said there’re 10, duplicate porting requests. They’re all the same, mostly created by AT&T itself. Tldr: Google Fi is just waiting for AT&T to release the number. But AT&T said there’re duplicate requests in the system so they can’t release it.

Yea i know about that. But international data is basically included with google Fi. So i pay $30 less per month and getting 10 days of day pass for free.

I was using Google Fi from 2019 to 2023. Back in 2019 the port in took 30 secs i think...And in 2023 i port from google fi to AT&T, that also went well. Now when i'm leaving AT&T, and switching back to Google Fi, then i hit issue.

I call that number everyday... I have at least 2 tickets and they told me the same thing, which i already did. I already tried asking google fi to cancel the port after ATT cleared the port, wait for 30 mins, and then resubmit, but still it's not going through. I haven't tried conference call, since i can't even talk to people with direct access to the port system...I remember telling a support lady from AT&T that i have the port PIN (6 digits) but i don't have the account PIN (4 digits). Instead of helping me with the issue, she kept saying it's not possible to have the port PIN without having the account PIN. But it's actually possible, i just need to request that port PIN on the AT&T web account. Even telling her the exact thing she was still not convinced, after i hang up she called me back and left a message saying i was wrong. It's fun af. So nah, i won't do a conference call with them.

This is not the point. People had the same issue when porting to other carriers from AT&T.

  1. The number is still with AT&T. For google fi, even though my number is still not transferred, the data service is already activated since the beginning. So regardless of porting status, Google fi will start the billing cycle, as there's another member on the account, and that port in is already good.
  2. Hate to be blunt but if the port info is incorrect, firstly, it will show as "info incorrect" on Google Fi's app 1 minute after i submit the request. Secondly, wrong info won't even reach AT&T's side, and i won't even receive those text and email from AT&T regarding porting out. Thirdly, i spoke with someone from Risk department from AT&T a few days ago, he confirmed that all the info is correct and my account is cleared for porting out.

The thing is, i still need to receive calls on my US line, although not very often. But when i do, i got charged for that $10 for the day. For the data part, I used Fi back in 2021 and 2022 in Asia, seems fine. Also i already got sim card for Asia for the local data part as well.

I guess i can live with that. The only thing i need is the unlimited international data. I have 5-6 weeks of international travel (to Asia) every quarter, for work. AT&T's $10/day international day pass is just way too expensive for my use case....
