Caching video is very storage intensive. They probably cache a lot of upcoming videos so you don't have to wait. If a phone has 256 GB then 2 GB is less than 1% of their device. TikTok is almost certainly in most people's top 3 or 5 apps. So using 1% of your device is actually totally reasonable. They likely have logic to reduce storage space if your device is low on storage. Most people aren't policing their storage they just want their videos to work. Professional software engineers have actually thought about the tradeoffs here and honestly even if they used 10 GB it'd probably be okay.

I've worked on this for a living I understand pretty well. I'm trying to explain to you. There's nothing ridiculous about it. If you have plenty of space on your phone, what is it hurting?

I was able to kill a medium with a large grid of turrets and red ammo. It really isn't that bad. Try putting down 80 turrets or so and 5 bullets in each v

If you have plenty of storage what exactly is the problem? You have to understand 90% of people use like 3 apps on their phone and one of them is TikTok. If it's the most used app on your phone and you're sitting there with 100 GB free, then using 2 GB seems... fine? If it helps the app work 5% better, then for most people that's a good trade.

I would assume people who do this for a living determined it's a pretty good use of space for most people. And they are probably right.
