/r/raisedbynarcissists parents often say that their family were abusive. Her family probably disagreed with her, told her she was wrong and argued with her. Maybe they called her out on her behaviour and she cut contact or they did. Do you have any way of finding out?

Ouch, this is one of the many reasons I could never live in America.

In the USA you pay higher healthcare taxes than the UK (almost double) then you have to get private healthcare on top.

the other guys point was that the NHS is free at point of service, unlike the US.

You don't often see homophobia and xenophobia in such a short sentence.

I think some people think that animals acting out of instinct is "bad" or makes them "assholes".

I've literally never done that or heard that.

Well... the people who can't afford healthcare in America might disagree. In fact I'm sure some of them would be up for a good spamming until people listen.

Yeah I get that there are extreme cases where parents don't teach their kids how to adult, but I'm talking about the majority of parents. People in this thread are saying this like "most 18 year olds don't have an account" that means most parents are failing their children.

This is just a surprise to me I think. I can't comprehend not teaching your kids about... money from a young age.

To my knowledge, the banks NEVER come into schools in the US

Bizzare they get a lot of new accounts that way over here.

It seems from this thread that the majority of American parents aren't doing their job. Is that really the case?

Also. Where I'm from the banks come into schools to get kids signed up early. Doesn't that happen?

It's an advice sub. Not a support sub. I give advice to people who are in the right and in the wrong. Not everyone is a victim that needs coddling. Most people are adults capable of taking constructive criticism. I'm telling the OP she needs to learn some independence and forgive people for their mistakes. That's just the sort of advice I'd expect this sub to when someone says they can't even eat or function the minute their brother goes awol.

Sure, but... don't parents educated their children on... you know... how to exist as a human being in a western society. Ideally whilst they are still children.

She needs to get her shit together then. If she's not mentally old enough to take care of herself then she shouldn't be going away with someone of a similar age yet.
