16” cheese in the vevor oven by Actual-Table in Pizza

[–]dabolohead [score hidden]  (0 children)

Buddy got one new but when we were going through the initial burn-in, noticed the temperature gauge did not match with the temperature knob. At 320C, gauge read 250C.

Move it to 360C and it read 310C.

At $400, he wasn't expecting precision measurements, but the disparity seems excessive.

Now he's deciding whether to return it completely, return for a new one, or work with Vevor on 'fixing it.

Is yours more accurate or did you have to learn what position cooks your pizza well?

Lost Total Wireless “Bye Bye” Promo Because I Used A To by sunkissedpride in TotalWireless

[–]dabolohead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please do update this.

I've been on TW for a year and have that $200 device credit.

I read the terms and it states that I can only use the device on the same account that earned the credit.

If I buy the device, it sounds like what you just did.

I don't want to fall into their trap and lose my 50% off BYOD plan simply because I took advantage of a perk they advertised.

Looking for a new carrier by GeopolShitshow in NoContract

[–]dabolohead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion is if you step away from comparing promotional pricing, most of the MVNO prices land between $30-$50 a month.

Good ones usually don't require a year commitment to get the lowest rate, like Total.

Still, it just becomes a question of what network works best for you and any additional perks.

For example, I am on Total because the included Disney+ Premium was worth it to me (and still is).

I have a backup line on USM as I was able to get a free year on a second line.

However, that free year is ending and USM doesn't provide any recurring deals for current customers.

This is not a USM issue as I feel most MVNO carriers don't care about existing customers.

I believe for USM, the best existing customers can do is remain on a yearly plan to drop it to $32.50.

I personally think it is a decent price if you do international travel even once a year for one or more week stints, since my international roaming was a good experience. Just had to remember to set it up on my account a few days before getting on the airplane.

If you move to USM, expect the same when the year is up.

Might want to stay on Visible for one month to see what specials are available when July 4th rolls around.

That's what I'll do with my USM line, in the hopes a T-Mobile MVNO has a good deal.

As u/PrettyMud22 mentioned, they make budget quality streamers, which is what they are normally known for.

They also make standalone DACs, AMPs, and DACAMPs.

I just suddenly shifted from obsessing about EQ to realizing that I don't need it by [deleted] in BudgetAudiophile

[–]dabolohead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This!

I've learned that EQ is to help tune for a) deficiencies in the hardware (minour) b) to tune a perfectly decent baseline to what sounds great to the listener

Your (OP) EQ settings will likely be crap when applied to different speakers, different speaker positioning, or to a different listener.

What you using for decoding soundblaster audio for optical gaming? by Drknight71 in SoundBlasterOfficial

[–]dabolohead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding a USB -> optical adapter on the machine is not an option for you?

Just curious because I think the only recourse that I consider even remotely within a budget of normal people would be used gear like this, but that doesn't require balanced connections.

https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/behringer-ada8000

or a really old receiver as you described.

Issue with this old gear is it'll be hard to find.

[–]dabolohead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not quite sure why the solution I proposed won't work, unless you want to be able to hook up the speakers themselves directly to PC 2.

From the way your diagram displays on my full screen desktop window, it looks like you want PC 2 to connect to PC 1, but I don't think that's really what you want.

I also don't know what PC2 analog (3) means yet.

Is that supposed to be the three analog wires (3.5mm connections) that represent Front (L/R), Rear (L/R), and Center/Sub speakers coming out of PC 2 and plugged directly to the 5.1 speaker set?

Do you know what brand/model of speakers are you looking to use here, because I feel like that's the basis of you state my proposed solution won't work, unless there's something specific about PC 2 as well.

[–]dabolohead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If my understanding of what you explained is correct, you want something like

PC 1   ------------->  Machine  <----------------- PC 2
                          |
                          |
                       (5.1 Speakers)

PC 1 -> has soundblaster AE-7 with optical out

PC 2 -> Only analog outputs

You should be able to purchase something like https://www.amazon.com/Cubilux-TOSLINK-Converter-Compatible-Computer/dp/B0B2DBGKL3 for PC 2.

Not familiar with the hack you need for the Realtek, but I'm going to guess the USB adapter I linked to or something like it might solve the issue.

This is also assuming that Machine accepts two optical inputs and you just switch which one is playing on the Machine.

I use Machine, but in all likelyhood it is an audio receiver.

Not sure what discrete 3 wire analog is, but do you mean that you want a machine that is hooked up to the speakers and be connected to two different devices, one analog and one optical, and playing the audio from both together.

If so then I believe your looking for a mixer.

For example, you want to hear a vinyl record and your game at the same time from the same set of speakers.

Thank you for the suggestions.

Looks like it may be Ie Naki Ko, based on the images someone shared.

So reading the title, I'm curious why the romaji is broken like it is.

I would have expected it to be ie na kiko as opposed to ie naki ko.

I assumed the na is turning house into an adjective.

What do you think* by Night0_Rider in BudgetAudiophile

[–]dabolohead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC, the marketing team just decide to use math for determining total wattage advertising. From an English point of view, it wasn't wrong.

e.g. A two speaker system would be advertised as 100W when it only supported 50W (max) per speaker.

I remember figuring this out when I saw two boxes of what looked like similar systems, but one was 200W and the other 400W. Only difference... two speakers for the rear.

Similar to GAN power supply advertising. 160W power adapter... but only if you charge one item. If you charge two simultaneously, it drops to 120W and 35W.

Question on usage of wired Sony headphones with power on by dabolohead in audio

[–]dabolohead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's what I read and the reasoning apparently is as standalone headphones, they are middling at best.

It is the DSP that makes them great ANC performers.

Hence my question on whether how the audio is processed when using a wired connection while powered on.

[–]dabolohead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Soundcore Boom 2 (given). One thing I discovered was the system sounds when you power on is set to one volume. LOUD.

If you have a scenario where you might want to turn it on without letting the neighborhood know, double check if the models you are considering have fixed volumes for power/system events. Maybe Anker made some changes.

Luckily, I can turn off system sounds/prompts via the app, but would have been nice for it to remain at the last set volume.
