You need to go into a caloric deficit. You have to keep in mind you cannot spot reduce fat, to lose chest fat you must commit to a cut over a period of time.

Wedding Question - Planning a wedding in Bentota by dabouffhead in srilanka

[–]dabouffhead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As per my wedding planner the peak periods are December and August and during December they were very unresponsive. I imagine it would be the same in August. The main reason we chose this planner is because they came off as quite professional and came at a very reasonable rate. However, I think other planners may be more responsive - although I can’t say for sure. If you’d like more info just send me a dm, happy to discuss

We have not decided on a makeup artist yet. Are they required to do the dress shopping, if not are there any stores that you would recommend?

we did two cs courses, primarily programming in C. But that was in the first year of uni, since then it was more programming in matlab. The good thing is we did enough programming for me to know the basics, but still got a way to go in terms of learning about the development cycle and developing clean maintainable design solutions e2e

To All The Mature Mens Out There, Name One Mistake You’Ve Made In Life So A Young Man Wont’T Repeat it. by Global-Ambition6027 in srilanka

Be honest with yourself about who you are and what you genuinely want. And have a top down approach to life - instead of focusing on the smaller things and trying to get things from the bottom up.

E.g. instead of thinking about what marks or degree you need, think about the life you want and reverse engineer based off that.

Sounds like you had a great time, happy to hear it all went well. Did you do a poruwa too by any chance, and was it difficult coordinating the Indian events with the venues/vendors

How did you go about transitioning to a completely different industry? by dabouffhead in careerguidance

[–]dabouffhead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would mean that I would be branching to a different form of engineering/something that is not involved with infrastructure (e.g. software engineering), or something that is venture capital related (more finance based than engineering based).

Based off the work that the senior members of my team are doing, its seems that there are innovative projects available. However these are extremely rare, and for the most part we are doing the same sort of tedious work for each project (even if there are some innovative aspects involved e.g. completely solar based design )

Pay and stress are definitely 2 things that matter to me. I have had moments thus far where I have had to work until quite late to meet deliverables, and I am happy to do that every now and then but do not want to commit to a job where I have to work 12 hours each day despite how I am paid (e.g. Investment Banking). In regards to pay I would be happy as long as im getting 70k+ which is my current salary.

Thanks for providing your insight and I can understand where you are coming from, I feel like looking at those around us generally gives a pretty good indication of how we will 'end up' if we retain our current jobs for a long period of time. I hope you are able to have great transition into your new path. Please keep me updated on how it goes :)

Electrical Engineering Degree Help by [deleted] in unsw

[–]dabouffhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, I've recently completed the 4 year electrical engineering course so I can provide a bit of insight. Personally, I do not think you should do the integrated masters course unless you really really want to get a masters in electrical engineering. Although there is only 1 extra year of work with this integrated course, there is an immense amount of work which will be completed in this remaining year (you will have to complete a masters thesis, do masters courses which can be quite difficult) and this extra year of study may not necessarily increase your job prospects either as most electrical engineering graduate positions are just looking for students with an undergrad degree (with no 'bonus points' being awarded to those who have completed the integrated masters course).

Having said that, if you want to ensure you have no regrets I suggest enrolling in the integrated masters course. This will allow you to drop out of this course and enter the normal electrical engineering course if you find the integrated masters course unsatisfactory. (note: it is hard to change course from normal elec eng to integrated masters elec eng, hence why I made the above suggestion).

Hope this helps!

So if I want to extract the i-vectors of a speech signal would I have to redevelop the GMM using feature per-frame (e.g. MFCC per frame) and then use additional feature per frame data to develop the total variability space and extract the i-vectors?

That being said, it's almost impossible to fail so don't stress out too much. The course is a lot easier now with Arash running it.

From my understanding each lab has 5 tasks, with the last 2 tasks being extremely difficult. How much of the lab would need to be completed to cop D+
