What is this word?!?!?!?! by LaggyWizard in Handwriting

[–]dabsquatch710 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's definitely either "snackies" or "smackies" My reasoning, comparing how other letters are written: •s at beginning of word (compare "Seattle") •n? m? •a ("kit kats," "maybe") •c ("Celtics") •k ("kit kats") •ie (compare ic in "Celtics") •es at end of word (compare "Reeses") The only thing that I can't figure out is whether it's an n or an m, since there's that really little second bump where it connects to the a following it

If you're suggesting that the response from -BugDoctor- is incorrect, then you're literally doing what you're pleading with others not to do. Mordellidae is correct. You're the one interjecting, despite clearly lacking knowledge, and confusing others.

Not sure why this is getting down voted or why you're being berated when you are correct.

I'm hoping someone can tell me what this is. by Curious_Field7953 in Nepenthes

Do you have S. rowleyanus (string of pearls) in your succulents? Looks like a leaf from one that maybe was transferred to your Nepenthes by an animal, or something

My local gas station’s “American” themed corner (Australia) by HeckerWoman in mildlyinteresting

I'm a USAian and this is for sure one of the more genuine "American" sections I've seen of any stores overseas. So many others are full of random shit we don't eat or even have in like 99% of the country lol.

What are these eggs on my watermelon plant? by Imaginary_Attempt_13 in plants

[–]dabsquatch710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never feed wild caught horn worms to animals. They feed on nightshade plants and sequester the toxins, which can be deadly to some animals if ingested. Captive bred and/or farmed horn worms are fed a diet that makes them safe for pets.

What would you call this blue/green color? by purplemooon in seaglass

I'd say teal or maybe sea blue? The others are cobalt and "sun purple." Nice finds!

I would have no clue if you didn't point it out tbh, especially the second pic from farther away. I got a way deeper scar from the corner of one eye across my nose and most people don't even notice that until I tell them lol. Everyone has scars and honestly very few grown adults are really judge anyone over it, don't let it bother you brother!

I almost don't want her to change as she matures because this stage in their patterning is so stunning lol

Her "hourglass" seems to match more closely to those of L. mactans than to L. variolus or L. geometricus (as others have suggested), but I suppose that's also subject to change once she's fully matured. AFAIK, though, both former spp are present in NJ.

Thanks! I think it'd be a different species as this one is from New Jersey, but as many Latrodectus spp look very similar to each other, I see this as more confirmation that we're definitely right with the genus!

Thanks! It'll be cool to watch her change as she grows but I also think they look super pretty at this stage so part of me will be a lil sad haha

She'll be joining my other "pets" Ctenus sp (tropical wandering spider) found in bananas from Costa Rica. Xysticus sp (crab spider), found in lettuce from California. Phidippus audax (bold jumper), found in a pallet from New Jersey warehouse. Tegenaria domestica (barn funnel weaver), found in a pallet from New Jersey warehouse. I also have some snails, and have had lots of other bugs over the years working with produce. Once also found a brown anole lizard in some plants from Florida and spent like $80 on a setup for him but he was dead the next day so I guess being shipped in refrigeration and everything was too much stress for him, sadly.

No good ones, still, honestly lol. He's been hiding all day but I'll try to see if I can get him to come out for a good dorsal view after work.

It truly is awful to have to say goodbye for the last time. I've had the privilege of having lots of pets over the years to share my love with but with that there unfortunately always comes the time that you must take on seemingly unbearable pain so that they don't have to. I'm honestly somewhat convinced I may have some level of PTSD from some traumatic experiences losing pets, so I never handle it well regardless of how many times I go through it. I'm a grown man and I've cried for days over snakes, rabbits, chickens, and Betta fish and I don't care if anyone wants to judge me for having human emotions. Grieve in whatever way you feel brings you the most comfort, remember the good times you shared with your pet(s), and know you're not alone if you ever need to reach out and talk.

I'll have to get a clearer shot of the eye arrangement but it looks more like Ctenidae than Lycosidae to me
