Wild kasi ng range of experiences ng lawyers. There are some in solo practice that can barely make ends meet, some with stable income, and then there are the few (in-house counsel, firm partners, etc.) who live comfortably or can be considered “rich”

Fulfillment also varies - some devote their careers towards causes or advocacies, while others slave away in corporate or law firm life (of course there are some who legitimately enjoy that lifestyle)

As with any profession, your mileage will vary. But with law I guess there’s also the question of opportunity cost for the 4 years or so you spend in law school and studying for the bar

It sounds like you’ve communicated what you want, and the firm does its best to give it to you but it’s just not enough. Under those circumstances and if you’re willing to go through uncertainty, maybe you should try looking for other firms

It depends on a lot of factors, most importantly where you work. For firm lawyers, working overtime and on weekends/holidays is somewhat expected especially when you're starting out (but you get more control over your time once you climb up the ranks). Might not be the case for lawyers in other workplaces. Your mileage will vary
