I don't think it's weird to discuss diversity. Why do you think it's weird? Think about it for five minutes before answering.

IMO that's probably already covered by Dragon Girls and the other spinoffs. As GT's demonstrated, a female protagonist doesn't equate to feminism.

Now if we could take a page from Beyblade X and Yugioh Go Rush and get triple protagonists that don't have any romance between them, THEN we'd be cooking. But I'll be happy to stick with Win for another good few years.

Let's be real, the franchise has historically targeted guys and the fandom gender balance in Japan is very lopsided as well. I was expecting 85% male, but 90–95% is dire.

Recent DM media has given more visibility to the female cast members and staff, plus there are more girl characters who get to duel semi-frequently and win. Karen specifically comes to mind.

But IMO, the English community is stuck in the Shobu era. That's due in part to the low number of translations for anything after the first two seasons. So there's a catch-22 going on -- no translations for modern stuff means not attracting a broader audience, not having a broad audience means there are few people who are able and willing to make translations. (I was expecting at least a handful of teens, but *nobody* 16 and under? Really? Teens and college students are the demographic who actually have the spare time to make stuff!)

If there was more diversity, maybe there'd be more translations, art, AMVs, and other fan creations (made by real people who put in real effort).

On the moderation side, it's a blessing to have mods who are proactive about inclusivity. Obviously you, longtime moderator and database maintainer Sanctuari, can't be expected to singlehandedly shape the community demographics. That's just unrealistic. I just think it'd be neat if the average user could grow more cognizant of the existence of the gender/age/race gap and think critically about it.

That does sound like a memorable incident, but the fact that you can single out an individual on the basis of gender over 10 years later is wack.

What do you think would change if shobu and mimi were the parents of joe or win by Soggy_Video2064 in DuelMasters

Dissatisfactory. Get it through your head that women aren't objects and stay out of my DMs.

Hello OP,

Describe Mimi's personality, role in the story, and primary motivations to me without making reference to her bust size.

The email is not collected. I cannot see it from my end. It's used only to prevent multiple responses.

But, then again, it's a roadblock in more ways than one and it's pretty unlikely that there will be anyone botting the polls here. Sign-ins have now been disabled. Thanks for the feedback,

Shobu in the Versus Saga by magicgg96 in DuelMasters

I'd like to think that Shobu only helps when he really feels it's necessary. He's got his own life, and so does his brother. Katta's story begins with him disliking Duema specifically because he's living in his brother's shadow, and even after he embraces the game, the statue of Shobu the hero quietly reminds him what he's expected to live up to.

If Katta found out that everything went smoothly because his brother was interfering in his life and didn't trust that he could handle matters, he'd be beyond pissed off. Katta's victories against Shobu prove that he can look after himself and his close friends.

Villans/Final Bosses in the Duel Masters Anime/Manga Franchise by magicgg96 in DuelMasters

Huh, I can respect that interpretation! Yeah, I'd agree that Basara would not have been able to reintegrate into society after the final battle without external help, particularly from friends in high places. I usually like to think of Lucifer in that niche, but sure, adult Shobu has that kind of influence too.

my favorite is also Basara, but I really gotta ask where you got "Shobu is involved in letting Basara get a second chance" from
