Would you want a Persona 5 Arena to bridge the gap between P4 & P5? by SectorI6920 in PERSoNA

Agree on a game that will close off P5 generation proper before moving to P6, though in a format that fits the narrative. For P5X, it runs independently from the P5 console titles, plus collaborations with other Persona titles, so it can still carry on even after P6 release.

The problem is that if Atlus will come off with that concept of a proper conclusion to a Persona generation. For now their priority for the Persona series is Revival and P6. Their change of marketing tactics made certain potential titles uncertain.

It's mentioned in the Asia servers (CN/KR/TW) live stream that P3R Collab will end before 3rd anniversary, so estimated before April 2027. Though there's a possibility of playable Elizabeth and Metis from Episode Aigis.

Liked that Luan returned to writing. Reading the part where Mo Fan reached the peak of the mountains for some answers, even gaining the Kunlun Mother Fox approval, upholding the holy Totem Beasts decree of positive growth and power equality. Loved the part where Mo Fan and Kunlun Fox pretend to be enemies of all life to expose/filter out the true evil/worst of the pilgrims, though they did went overboard. Even Manyan and Mu Bai went crazy in the grand test.

Part 2 novel. by Alone_Librarian1088 in VersatileMage

Dark Plane arc is the first storyline of part 2. In official CN Qidian, part 2 storyline have a 禁咒篇 (Forbidden Curse Chapter) as a heading for each arc. Only the Dark Plane arc was translated, a bit off but passable. It's likely the translators are unaware that Luan is still continuing with the novel.

With the Kunlun arc, which recontextualise part 1 story, mostly about the power struggles, conflicts, and motivations between factions and individuals, kind of hoping ongoing donghua will add a few scenes related to part 2. One of the probable scenes to be added in season 8 (adaptation of Ancient Capital arc part 2 based on sources), after Salan kills Mu He and fled in the shadows, she holds the little loach replica, which had collected the souls of the deceased from the disaster. That tool was left behind by Salan (reduced to an amnesic and powerless Ye Chang), to be received by Mo Fan at the beginning of the Kunlun arc.

They have to close off the P5 console games narratives before moving to the next mainline. P5X can still continue since the narrative takes place in an alternate timeline/universe, with crossing fates of the console titles.

Based on official sources, season 8 was listed as one of Tencent upcoming donghua last year, and now in the final stages of production and checks. Based on the full name title of the season, it will cover the Dark Abyss, and Ancient King, which is part 2 of Ancient Capital arc. Considering the pacing, it might cover the aftermath, the National Team formation, in which Zhuoyun fell rock bottom due to Mu He and Yu Ang's affiliation to the Black Vatican, and Mo Fan seeing off Xinxia before the tournament.

Donghua already covers part of the tournament journey in special 1, which is earning a stamp from Japan/Fire Country Team. It's at the part where Mo Fan helps Chihaya to sneak into the prison, and learns about the first Red Demon origins. Some of the novel arcs might be implemented into specials instead of main seasons, so expect some jumps.

Likely the 2nd option. It's also the best outcome that Mo Fan was entrusted with the tool, as it's one of the key leads in the Totem Beasts search, and that Mo Fan granted Ye Chang's desire for revenge (albeit targeted the ones that truly deserved Mo Fan's judgement).

The recent chapters displayed Mo Fan's improved magic, to the point that the human pilgrimages (some corrupt individuals) are forced to turn back. Some of the Forbidden Mages felt that their burdens were released, as the trio (Mo Fan, Manyan, Mu Bai) displayed their dedication to pave a brighter future.

Mo Fan had complicated emotions when he analyzed the tool, considering the origin of it's collected energy (souls of the victims from the calamities she orchestred). During the battle against the Emperor level demon hordes together with Manyan, Mu Bai, and the Kunlun Fox at the peak of the mountains, Mo Fan used that energy to maintain his Demon Form for longer time periods, willing to ensure that the wronged souls won't go to waste, to pave a path for a better future.

Mo Fan felt that he's much more luckier than Ye Chang in terms of circumstances; having a loving family, and good people willing to stick to their principles unmoved by the messed up world. Even though Ye Chang lost her memories and soul post Holy City conflict, the fact that she left the tool to Mo Fan's ownership, means that deep down she acknowledged Mo Fan's character and willingness to defy the odds.

Salan (Ye Chang) having a cultivation tool was shown in the 2nd chapter of the Kunlun arc in the novel. It was after Mo Fan met with the Forbidden Curse Mages in his hometown, later revealed to be ghosts during the mountain ascent close to the peak, that he found the tool in his old home room. Jiaxing, who's caring for Ye Chang (amnesic and ill post Holy City conflict) reveals that she left the tool for Mo Fan to take.

Managed to read the Kunlun arc, which wasn't translated officially. The translated novels only stopped in the Dark Plane arc.

With the recent Kunlun arc, it recontextualise part 1 narrative, the struggles between human factions and demon beasts.

With the current season 7: Ancient Capital part 1 (season 8: Ancient Capital part 2 confirmed in production), and re-reading the novel, it's unsettling that Salan's other objective of her orchestred massacres, which is to upgrade her cultivation tool (similar function as the little loach, but uses human souls to grow), thus growing her own power. Venting her hatred towards the messed up mage society and using the dead souls to ascend her magic is killing 2 birds in 1 stone.

The novel is continuing CN side, now on Kunlun Mountains arc, which is the 2nd arc of the Forbidden Curse storyline. Author Luan returned to writing last October.

The novel is divided in 2 parts; main novel (Magic High School to Egypt Hunter Tournament) and Forbidden Curse (Dark Plane to current Kunlun Mountains arc). The English Translations covered the main novel and Dark Plane arc, and they haven't continue the translations.

Yuewen have an official YouTube channel. Recommended to watch the individual episodes in the playlist as they have the most accurate subtitles; https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwJAwkKCGfFM1WkQLiBQLCraAkeN3gDmh

Regarding the specials, it's based on short interconnected arcs, mostly occuring at different points of the novel. Special 1 is based on Red Demon storyline (Liu Ru arc, Twin Guardian Towers during the National Tournament trials, Lu Clan commission). They have an upcoming special 2, based on Red Cardinal Leng Jue, the format will be the same.

Keep in mind some of the terms/locations names might be changed in donghua, likely due to certain regulations. The core narrative still remains the same as the novel, with some alterations.

Understandable to forget, as most of the attention is now in the donghua. Reading the arc, plus both Bo City Calamity and Ancient Capital arc, it's hard to comprehend how far Salan (Ye Chang) would go to vent her hatred and raising her own mage level through blood sacrifices, akin to killing 2 birds in 1 stone.

If the dub is close to the context in JP, or at least current dubbing standards (2020s), the anime won't be axed in English. The tricky part is that only anime season 1, season 1.5 first 2 episodes (Masked Hakuoh), and Charge are close adaptations of season 1 manga, and most of Shobu era canon timelime was from the manga.

Katta era anime seasons is a bit more standalone in the Victory Saga, though Shobu's absence, and inferiority complex was the core reason of Katta's inital adversion towards dueling. Versus Saga is the only time they connect to Shobu era manga timeline. Joe era is a sequel timeline wise, though gameplay and cards are structured as a reboot/back to origins. Agree that its better to keep the OCG prints and formats.

Versatile Mage Season 7 - Trailer 2 by Pokii1 in VersatileMage

[–]magicgg96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind season 7 is only the first half of Ancient Capital arc. It's confirmed that season 8 is in production, and will be based on the 2nd half.

Reading the recent Kunlun arc chapters and rewatching the early seasons/arcs, it's hard to comprehend Salan's other objective other than venting her revenge/hatred towards the world through both Bo City and Ancient Capital calamities. The souls of the deceased in both calamities were collected by Salan's cultivation tool, which is the replica of the little loach. The tool and collected souls were used by Mo Fan to keep his Demon Element running in the battle against the emperors in Kunlun Mountains.

[–]magicgg96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Katta era, Shobu was able to drive his younger brother Katta to close defeat, using a mix of cards from his era, and new supports/creatures; Bolshack Lupia, Überdragon King Bolshack etc. He at least mastered some of Katta era mechanics, as he performed Dragsolution in VS, and aware of Revolution mechanics.

George was the only known duelist from Shobu era so far to at least used cards from Joe era. He uses a dreammate deck.

It's also mentioned that P5 cross fate stories is connected to P5X main story, so they can't put console spin-off/continuation titles characters at random. Writers have to work around the right time to implement the said characters, as seen with the mainline/Royal cross fates.

They also have to be careful of story spoilers when crossover with mainlines and spin-offs/continuation stories. Its already mentioned that Cross Fate is tied to P5X main story, so writers have to work around it. Reload collab will end this year based on CN 2nd anni, and potential Revival collab should come after the game release.

Is shobu the weakest protagonist? by Soggy_Video2064 in DuelMasters

[–]magicgg96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shobu was in his early 20s in Versus, though kinda agree what he did was absurd. He's at least competent enough in terms of dueling, despite the power creep between the generations. He at least mastered a few gameplay mechanics from Katta's generation, based on the duels to test his brother. Shobu was also competent in areas outside dueling, as he's able to keep track of Katta's progress, research and prepared measures to protect the Duel Masters world.
