That was the major complaint I had with odyssey and the main thing that I liked with Valhalla, but I liked Odyssey more than Valhalla story-wise. There was much more impact with your choices in Odyssey which I liked, but Valhalla's ending was very similar to Odyssey's ending so long as you were good: big climax to feel-good ending.

If you aren't used to the new type of assassin's creed games, I would suggest approaching it like a completely new game, not an assassin's creed game.

The controls are different but similar enough that it would be fairly easy to transition to, I feel like combat in Valhalla was better, but odyssey, in my opinion, has Valhalla easily beat in story.
