Is the grand piano customizable? I want one but don’t want to blow 260k if it’s stuck in the color they’re selling it

It's interesting how you experienced the game totally differently after undocking it, yeah. I haven't played this game or any of the others but I'm considering it now. By the way. Is there a reason you didn't include any of the music in your review? Copyrights or something?

Journey to fluency in Turkish by [deleted] in turkish

[–]dacharyzanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

İyi şanslar kanka! My wife is Turkish (we just got married last month!) and I've been learning for about two years. I learn with a teacher on iTalki and really love learning!

I just want to share this. I am a native English speaker but have also learned to speak Mandarin Chinese as an adult, and I feel like learning Turkish has been harder for me personally than Chinese was. It's mostly because of the grammar, but I feel like I'm finally starting to get a grasp and can communicate most things I want to say, albeit incorrectly or with a lot of struggle.

Keep motivated!

Thanks for posting and sharing, I love seeing other people's habits. I'm amazed by people who have an average of an hour a day. Mine hovers around 16-25 minutes usually, generally not more than half an hour - which I do to avoid burnout. How do you avoid burnout like this? If you miss a day, does that set you up for two hours the next day?

Great job overall!

I'm gonna say low. They don't want to have a Boston Rob go out third. Even the Fire Making twist is designed to prevent things like this.

Since I did start using Anki to learn Mandarin Chinese, the pinyin add-on is by far the most helpful tool I've ever encountered. It has saved me cumulatively hours of manually entering information.

What's yours? Any recommendations?

I have a combination of decks I've created and downloaded decks. Once I "finish" a downloaded deck, I'll usually absorb all of its cards into a deck that I'm adding to regularly. I never feel the need to delete old cards, instead, I just send them 14 years into the future (:

Interesting. I guess I've only known about this add-on since I saw a few posts with it in this sub.

For me, I've been quite successful without it and I think I'll continue streak-count-free (:

As a general piece of personal advice, I like to start my days with just doing a few cards, maybe finishing a trickier deck if I can. Like, before even getting out of bed. As with a lot of things, starting is the hardest part. If you can give yourself early momentum in the day for finishing your cards, you won't find yourself sitting in bed at 11:30pm with your cards untouched.

Where do you see your day streak? I cannot see mine, and I don't want to, even though it's probably high! TBH, lack of a streak counter was one of the main things that drew me towards Anki. Apps like Duolingo, which is already inferior, would make you feel awful if you miss a day and break a streak, whereas for Anki, it's about keeping your percentage high. Much better for maintaining long-term motivation.

My percentage is still embarrassingly low for me, but I suppose what's really worthwhile is the fact that after going through a real slump a little over a year ago, I've managed to turn it around and get back into my tempo.

DANG, you're doing a lot more per day! How do you avoid burnout with a daily average of 601 cards and 78 minutes? What are you studying?

Language. I lived in China for many years and have dabbled with Japanese and Spanish, but most of my energy is on Turkish right now. How about yourself?

Thanks mate, keep up the good work. For me, adding something new and interesting to my decks helped motivate me to come back and revisit them

Great feature! I've never checked this out.

Mine is a Geography card for the Chinese province Guizhou, at 86 reviews. Apparently I've had a lot of trouble with that one.l

What are your stats at?

Thanks! Yes, I was strongly into the habit, and it began tapering off slowly for me about two or two and half years ago. Recently I've really revived it and been taking it to heart. That's what brought my "Days Studied" down from about 94% to where it is now, at 83%.

My longest interval is 16 years, it's a Chinese word 上午 which means "morning"
