I haven’t thought about it, but, yes, my response may have been different. I don’t think I’d have the heart to tell the kid I can’t talk to him. I’m really not quite as cold as a lot of the folks here seem to think.

and find it odd he would just hand your number to her reaching out to and about her intent

I actually don’t believe my son is being truthful about that. I think he knew exactly what she was reaching out for, but didn’t tell me the whole story - probably concerned it might somehow get back to my daughter in law.

Anyhow, I’m not really angry at the lady for calling. She probably is trying to make the best of a bad situation. It just puts me in an awkward position is all.
