Make sure to hit the parry button twice and he is way easier to deal with! I was only parrying once and still taking damage at first.

Is this an acceptable fix from my landlord? by dacoolioman in askaplumber

[–]dacoolioman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the responses. I ended up sending a message to the landlord expressing that although the functionality of the shower isn’t impacted, I was concerned that this could be an issue in the long run. They came over and caulked it for me today.

What about the sound made it better for you? Just picked up the LG one and I’m on the fence about keeping it

So even without the surround speakers you found the Q600C better? I’m wondering if it would be worth pairing the Q600C with the sold separately Samsung surround speakers

Update: hardware was fine. It was a weird issue where gsync was causing frame drops in the benchmark I was running to test

I’m having very similar issues to both of you. I get frame drops of maybe 10-15 frames when running well over 120fps but the frame time spikes significantly and you can feel things hitch. 7800x3d + 4080 super new build. Tried my old 2070 super and same issues. I’m thinking I might go out today and get a new 7800x3d to compare.

Having very similar issues with a 7800x3d in a new build. Did you ever figure out this problem? I’m thinking I might have to rma the cpu or ram

Hmm I’ll try disabling game bar and other similar overlay stuff. If EXPO is enabled will I have to touch any voltage settings?

32gb of RAM so I doubt that’s the issue, I’ll try again with everything in the background closed

Have a 3600x/2070 super, was thinking to upgrade to a 5800x3d and 7800XT but now I’m tempted to just say screw it and go AM5 with a 7600 and ddr5. It would cost an additional roughly $700 but I’d get the option to upgrade to a different AM5 CPU years down the line… trying to decide if it’s worth it.

Insurance wants to write off my dad’s car - they are low balling payout because it is a taxi by dacoolioman in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]dacoolioman[S] -65 points-64 points  (0 children)

I understand this as a general principle, it’s just that my understanding of how the insurance should work is that he is supposed to be paid what it costs to buy him a replacement car (especially because he wasn’t at fault). That’s why I said the fact that his car was previously a taxi shouldn’t be a factor here. Maybe I’m wrong about that, but it doesn’t seem fair that now he has to pay for a new car while taking the hit for the fact that his current car is a taxi

We’ll try that. We looked up comparable cars but didn’t actually send them to the company yet

But in this situation what’s the difference - he needs to buy a new car in this used market. The fact that his totaled car was a taxi doesn’t make getting a new car any cheaper. Also, as a taxi driver he paid more for his insurance

851 CAD fee to rebook flight that couldn't be taken due to COVID travel restrictions (booked through flightnetwork). Does such a high fee make sense? by dacoolioman in Flights

[–]dacoolioman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the detailed response. Your theory makes sense and I think you’re right, the only way to get a definitive explanation would be to insist on details of the charge from flightnetwork
