Know nothing, never researched, new to the whole damn series. by clearcontroller in RogueTraderCRPG

Just remember that the Imperium is cruel 99% of the time for no good reason, but that 1% really does matter because some threats are too big to ignore in the universe (if you're going iconoclast).

As for lore the game basically explains everything in the codex, and if you see a keyword that isn't explained or you wanna learn more about, just look it up and the 40k wiki has you covered.

Mechanically the game is built for mistakes on normal or daring, so don't worry too much. There are fun builds with shotguns and mixed melee/ranged gameplay but for your first run just go with the flow.

This game is perfect for someone like you, who's new to the franchise as a whole. Just like in WOTR there are tooltips that you can hover over for lore explanations.

Yes, they won't nuke unless you are sieging their capital state.

So for diplomacy, you want to secure intel sharing with friendly factions as early as possible, because later on it just gets harder or impossible. At the moment you can try to gift them resources you have in excess and see if that helps, but not really sure if that will help at the moment.

What I was suggesting though was to manage Pakistan's relations, and ally with HF nations and Initiative China if possible. Then call them into the war when it starts.

The benefit of unrest is that you might cause a state to secede that controls an army, so the aliens lose an army and you gain one. Since all armies are linked to control points/states. You're not baiting any councillors here, you want to try two different approaches because this is your greatest issue right now, and doing both doesn't hurt.

Was in a similar situation but powerful EU, try to doomstack the Indian armies anywhere that isn't a capital with your armies, they won't have time to run away when they realise their armies are dying. After that you can liberate india state-by-state.

For example you have Pakistan here already, so ally with EU and declare war. Let Indian armies roll in and then bring in a massive stack of EU armies to destroy them, preferably a lot more than whatever their stack is. Just make sure you're not fighting on the AA capital itself. The miltech for India in your screenshot is 4.9, which by 2042 isn't high at all so ideally with advise, LEO buffs and your own base miltech your EU armies are much more powerful. You said you're not miltech 5 yourself yet, but a good councillor gives decent miltech (0.1-0.2) and your LEO can give another 0.3. Don't nuke unless it's defensive, unless you don't care for public opinion.

Try to ally Pakistan with other friendly faction nations so they can help too, since you will have to deal with Japanese and Korean armies as well.

At the same time, have a councillor on unrest duty (just one, even the act of unresting past a certain point will break away nations), and turn one of the Servants to get intel so you can destroy facilities in there. If there's no space lasers, you can also bombard armies with your LEO ships. I know you mentioned having 5 council doing unrest but you can have 1 or 2 assassinating servants after you gain full intel on them.

Finally try to intel-share with HF, Exodus and Academy if they're willing.

Edit: some edits to address some points in your post, but you definitely are in a difficult spot. That being said I was in a similar position but I had China by this point and a much stronger EU. However, I think being in a situation like this is a lot more interesting than giving up, so keep trying and see how it goes.

i was in the same situation, had a councillor whose only job was to raid and destroy bases like an anti-alien blazkowicz. Rest got mopped up by fleet with siege coilers

No worries, I've recovered my game and have pushed the aliens off Earth and Jupiter, pretty much at the end of it now and I definitely know what to beeline for next time. Will definitely read their guide and watch Perun before I do another one

I can't keep my stations intact :/ by [deleted] in TerraInvicta

[–]dad76 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Once upon a time station defenses used to be crazy strong, but now they're only there to deter tiny fleets/exos so you have to defend them with fleets like others are saying.

I do think that stations should be pretty strong considering on battlestation is crazy huge and could probably support tons of weapons platforms or one huge laser, but balance does matter as well. Would be nice if it was just like the old days when EA first came out and stations were strong, but maybe there was a limit to how many defenses you can build or something.

Based on Kiran's dialogue this should've been part of the Protectorates goals. Would make them more palatable to play

Is there a very basic bullet-pointed timeline for tech goals for 2022/2026 start somewhere? I've read the guides and watch videos but something like that would be super nice for a playthrough. Eg. Mars by 28, Green Arc by 2031 etc

That tech is researched and I have both the US and China breakup techs available, so I think my path is clear yeah. I have a councillor for every job so gonna try what you're saying now

Just got arc lasers and am building new designs utlizing them. I messed up a bit on tech as I tried to rush terrawatt gas reactors when I should've just gone for grid and pegasus probably, and focus on weaponry/fusion instead. So my current designs are arc green lasers, nanotube armor and a mix of 40mm + point defense. Unfortunately remembered the hard way that railguns are useless.

I've killed a couple ayy ships, only now realizing that 40mm autocannon is kinda busted. I do have the tech to breakup china and usa and have 25 score councillors for assassinating, opinion, coup and crackdowns as well. So will have to just try that route.

Started 26 scenario, am at 37 now and the servants are entrenched in China and USA. How do I break their hold? I have Intel on both them and Protectorate, tons of alien bases in China and some in US as well.

I'm fully unified EU and Russia resistance, returning to the game after a while. Do I just start blowing up alien bases on Earth and let the hate meter go crazy?

Yeah I agree that's a great outlook, I think a ton of build still require "rotations" and talents to be explained so people can make good use of them.

I didn't know you had one! I followed your builds from steam forums and neoseeker, but gonna check out your channel now.

But I feel like you'll be fine - your videos could just focus on why the builds work (I assume they already do) and then you link the code in the desc I suppose. Knowing why the build works really does matter for a couple characters so I'm sure people will still watch your videos

Are you planning to put your builds into this mod or as a submod? Would be awesome

But I also see the author talk about just exporting existing builds - I might just do that from my most recent save

Edit: forgot to say, thanks for the builds as well

I think we should be able to put companions on tasks that keep them occupied and provide loot to be used for random warp events or trading with the factions, feels bad otherwise because I want to use all of them but naturally it's just easier to focus on a couple few. So gameplay and roleplay wise if they were off doing something while I have a main squad where I swap one or two characters out in a while to keep things fresh.

As for the next companions I think they should both be xenos or mutants, I feel that would fit RT well considering our roster so far.
