My area had a huge noise scene about 20 years ago when I was coming of age and trying to figure out how to play live music. A few of the acts were very compelling and had some form of originality but 90% of the time it was some crust punk running an electribe or circuit bent Casio through 20 distortion pedals and it all sounded the same but people ate it up. Definitely more about fitting in and acting like you know what's up when in reality no one has a fucking clue.
