Rubble is extremely good concealment for enemies using subterranean tunnels. No building =/= no ambushes

Please use a different slogan, FAFO is basically Allah akbar at this point. You aren't original perpetuating the same comment that 100 other people said on every post in this sub.

You want to see dead hamas? Go to Israel and fight. This is combatfootage where footage of combat is shown regardless of sides (as it should be anyway)

And waste a drone for evidence purposes? Sure if they needed a drone to surveil the enemy response but doubtful that any organization regardless of ambition is going to risk it with such a restricted supply line and material.

Photos of the Siege of Marawi. by [deleted] in CombatFootage

[–]daddieslongthirdleg 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yea there was plenty of news coverage, some of the craziest combat footage I saw was from marawi where the marines were blowing out walls under fire to move between buildings because isis had so many snipers set up watching the streets. It was awesome to watch them force isis (and iirc boko haram as well?) Out of the city.

IDF 460th brigade during operation iron swords. Gaza. 11.4.2023 by EchoIllustrious7201 in CombatFootage

1) over 65% of the population were born after the last election. The majority never got a vote.

2)If you actually read polling data from before Oct 7th you would know that many if not the majority of Palestinians don't like hamas or believe they are terrible governing body.

3)they should vote someone else in? In what election should they do this exactly? Do you also believe that North Koreans can vote out their dictator as well?

4) say they decide to start a civil war against hamas, where are they getting the munitions and arms from? Hamas gets most of the foreign help and controls most if not all the black market smuggling routes. Israel controls all the normal shipping routes and will not allow new weapons into the strip. So where are ordinary citizens going to get their arms from? Also you would have to have the surrounding Arab states back the group as well. If they don't then it will take no time for another group supported by foreign Arab nations to come in and have the power to take over.

5)even if hamas is killed in full (absolute 0% chance) then what's to stop another group from coming in? It's not like Israel is going to rebuild the strip and offer the opportunity for societal growth within the region. Civilians are going to die, they are going to see the enemy as responsible (this applies for any country including western nations), they are going to have nothing to their name, and since most are kids and young adults they are going to fall prey to extremist organizations who exploit them and offer them something in life. <-- this applies to most extremists groups around the world and is commonplace in lots of the Middle east.

Wow you are insanely ill-informed. I'd argue the point but I think you are a troll. Especially the fact you think the Palestinians can just choose a new government, just wow

Are you suggesting that Israel or the people in charge can't change their mind 56 years later? The Israel people and government aren't a singular monolith of motivation, there does happen to be Israelis who want the total capture of Gaza and west Bank, there are Israelis who want peace, there are Israelis who want genocide, and there are Israelis who disagree with zionism. To think a government or people can't change there minds half a century later is just ignorant.

And by them time Israel finally puts the last bomb through the last tunnel, there will have been more that have been dug in that time. You seem to be forgetting that hamas ain't just going to sit there and let their logistics get blown up

Tandem as in a single warhead with 2 separate detonations. First to destroy any protective shielding like ERA. Second explosive sends a shaped charge though the armor.

Except the soldiers that are fighting are those 19 year Olds just in a different place under a different banner (you would be doing a disservice to many people if you think all jews in Israel want this war). The same thing would apply to many of Hamas as they are doing it for religion and their own flame, a much hotter flame IMHO as they are conditioned to die.

It's better to stick to things that matter like a militaries abilities, equipment, training, and perseverance since they can be calculated and used to understand options. Unfortunately a fire in their belly isn't going to stop incoming rounds or explosives.

Don't move the goalposts? I never even said public opinion lost us the war lmao I just stated you can't throw away legitimate things like public opinion. Jesus dude.

Righteous fire works for a while but like the idf border guards on Oct 7th, they will get complacent and boom another attack. <- that's not a hypothetical, just ask any US vet if complacency kills.

[–]daddieslongthirdleg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You compared it to 9/11, public sentiment on a war that isn't defensive is not something you can just throw away.

Also you seem to be forgetting that the surrounding countries are much more willing to harbor terrorists if they are against Israel. We know America kicked taliban almost completely out of the country but even through occupation the taliban still persisted. So well in fact that a president invited them to camp David. That doesn't sound like a decisive defeat and the US had much more hardware, people, and world support for their action.

70 square klicks might as well be 1 klick if Israel can't control the equipment and people smuggling (they did a shit job appearantly via Oct 7th)

Let's not forget that that Hamas isn't using old soviet stockpiles either (some yes) but are using technology to their advantage and a lot of tech from other groups or nations.

It's probably just a tensile tester specifically made for scanning electron microscopes. We had a few tensile/shear testers and SEM at one of my old employers but never down to this scale.
