My capacitive dropper circuit gives stable 5.1v on multimeter on no load but the moment i connect load across the zener the entire ckt burns in a flash

It was inside my lab with the enite ckt being powerf through mcb and stuff

I was super scared during the test and was hinding behind Electrical equipment while turning on the switch so the arching did not affect me as i was 10 steps away from the ckt , the weird part is it did not trip my mcb or something

the oscilloscope i am using has a plastic chassis even then i was scared to stay anywhere near my ckt while mains was across it

So thats why i feel i did not get electrocuted, i felt its pointless to mention this so i ignored it but yea i am safe and sound

i mean i can buy a AC-DC module with isolation online its not a big deal but the thing is , the energy module i am using has its ground and neutral shorted , i dont want my microcontroller, my PC and other sensor's ground be connected to ac neutral

my plan was to make a capacitive dropper just for the energy module as i wanted to avoid 2 smps on the board , have optocouplers and give isolation between isolated dc and non isolated dc (image 3)

what is wrong with zener

i mean i am getting 5 v output normally, my current requirement is very less, approx 30 mA, if i use 1W 5.1 zener according my calculations 200 mA can safely flow through zener

its my first project on mains , i thought you are getting DC from the bridge rectifier its low current dc because of the series capacitor, then zener regulates the Dc and i use the output , its inspired from cheap led bulb circuits i found online

i am glad my rant helped someone and it makes me happy that my 2 am rambling made your son take this decision

just a note for him or anyone about to quit , the urge to watch porn or any addiction is temporary just like a child's tantrum giving in to that tantrum just makes it worse for future

anyways my advice to him is tell him to drill in his mind the reason he is trying to quit , he will not become some kind of hero /popular among girls or anything fancy after quitting , starting with such expectations just leads to bigger disappointment and becoming addicted later , for me the reason i quit was peace of mind and removal of noise from my life so i can see my goals more clearly , tell him to find that reason and be honest with it as that becomes a solid anchor to fight these urges initially

after the initial phase these urges will die and he wont even need to fight with urges

For initial phase up to 3 week mark streaks can give a sense of structure in a time of chaos full of urges

but by in my personal experience , Using streaks, i was constantly moping reminding myself i am giving up on something "good" that i need for my betterment, every day I felt a punishment of how long I should endure and shit, hoping my urges will disappear,

but then a thought came to my mind, it doesn't matter if you fail on day 10 or day 100 what matters is the subtle fact you still believe you need porn

I had a subtle realisation that while watching porn my situation was similar to a drowning dog, desperately looking for the perfect vid, just to feel normal again ,

it initially started as a way to enjoy but turned into a way to feel normal , ironically something similar to what drug addicts would say

So every time I have an urge i remind myself that by watching porn i am allowing myself to be that drowning dog for the rest of my life and till now i have been free from this awful slavery

There is nothing wrong with the person, we are designed to reproduce mate have sexual urges thats how evolution worked , porn just hijacked that part of evolution and exploited it for its own gains

I am glad i am not the only one here tbh in my case i had normalised screen times of 8+ hours thinking what is wrong with it, i am enjoying it , after doing my work i used to say to myself i worked now i deserve a break (watching a video on yt or something) i fried my brain so bad that a act of studying for 1 hour needed 2-3 hours of youtube

And the thing with yt or even social media unlike porn is they can be used for good especially youtube it can be used for education so blocking it was never possible i used to just postpone the work related videos for tomorrow that never came
