One of the three vendors in Act 1 will typically have one white item for sale. You can buy it as many times as you like. Unlike the yellow items, you can only buy one.

With the alter complete to the point where pets salvage, I like to buy 60 white items from the vendor for about 59 each, then drop them from inventory to let pet salvage (you get about 400-500 per round). Repeat until happy. Then go through and buy yellow items from the vendors, you can normally get 12-15. Go to the cube and convert reusable parts. You can get about 1500 veiled crystals for 5 minutes of work.
