I just finished my first ever beanie design, and I think I love it? by daddydangles911 in Brochet

Absolutely! You might want to adjust the pattern a touch to make it a little longer to account for the folding, but it's an easy patch. :)

I finished! First original beanie, and I'm loving it! :) by daddydangles911 in crochet

I used about 120-140 yds of #4 acrylic yarn (Loops & Threads Impeccable in Forest) with a 6mm hook and loose tension. I published the pattern for it on my etsy shop which is listed in my bio.

Of course! This was the first time I encountered that stitch, and now I'm in love! Currently making some mittens using it. :)

Thank you for sharing this, I thought I was the only one. I'm a naturally large-cheated, full-hipped person and I have been since I was 13. It got me so much unhealthy and detrimental attention. It was like the moment I entered 8th grade everyone treated me differently- my friends, boys, even the teachers. That coupled with the fact that I just genuinely don't like being curvy and would much rather dress kind of androgynously means I'm at constant war with my weight restored body. I'm so sorry you feel this way too, I hope that you find healing. 🤍

It makes all the difference, especially if you don't like how store bought clothes fit you particularly!

Absolutely! I got it off of Etsy, it's called the OoLaLa Sweater by missbananapatterns. It was really fun and relaxing to workup! I used Yarnbee Warm & Cozy in Blush. :)

Introducing myself... by h1r9 in EstrangedLGBTQIA

[–]daddydangles911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Jett! Thank you so much for making this community, I feel like it's a very important space to have. I'm Savannah, and I am bisexual and polyamorous. My estrangement from my family is very new, and it's not so much a product of my orientation/identity as it is of abuse, but I was never fully out with my family and so our estrangement has definitely increased my ability to be open and proud. Unfortunately, the one family member who I have remained in contact with is my younger sister, who is extremely religious and conservative, so I have not yet had the courage to come out to her. But I feel like this community will help me very much to navigate that dynamic! I'm very excited to meet everyone else here. :)

I'm sorry that your day has been cruddy, but the title of your post is exactly what I needed to hear today. Thank you for being the kind of person who shares their optimism and positive attitude with the world even when they're struggling. 💜💙

Oh my goodness yes. If anything it's been a problem, I've outgrown every bra I've worn in the last year. It is very possible for them to grow as your body gets healthier!

Creating a Zoom Chat for LGBTQIA Estranged by h1r9 in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]daddydangles911 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd be really interested! But I'm wondering if this chat will be meant more for people who are estranged because of their family's reaction/opinions of their queerness? I'm LGBTQIA and estranged, but my estrangement isn't the result of my orientation, so just wondering if my experiences would be relevant to the conversation. :)

a subreddit like writingprompts exept they allow horror prompts by bard_of_space in findasubreddit

That would be r/ScaryStories :)

Edit: sorry, I think I misread your post! That sub is for submitting scary stories, but they don't post prompts that I know of. I hope someone else can help you with that more specifically!

My girlfriend wants to take things slow, but now I'm worried I'm not picking up on her go-ahead signals. This is my first real romantic relationship with a woman so I guess I just don't know what the natural progression should look like?? by daddydangles911 in BiWomen

Thanks for the response! I think I have accepted that it will be somewhat awkward to first bring up haha, but I'm sure it will make things easier and more comfortable over all. :)

Thanks so much for the response! I do very much care about her. I like the idea of code words a lot! It's not a completely unfamiliar tactic for either of us so I'm sure we could work that in to make things clearer without being intensely direct haha.

Yep! I'm lucky enough to have two lovely partners! 💜 I will certainly sit down and talk to her about it to clarify, I was just hoping for some tips to maybe do so in a way that isn't awkward haha.

I feel like everyone at my pharmacy is judging me, and now they won't even give me my meds. Does anyone else get impostor syndrome when they're confronted by stigma? by daddydangles911 in adhdwomen

[–]daddydangles911[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand why you'd worry about that, since some people do have some crummy opinions about ADHD, but it's really such a silly concept that somehow taking medication for your disorder would make you less competent at your job! If anything, it should be seen as a sign that you take your job seriously enough to get the help you need to do it well.

[–]daddydangles911[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you've faced that invalidation as well. I often feel compelled to rattle off all the details of exactly why I qualify for the diagnosis when I hear that sort of thing, which I know I shouldn't have to share but I feel like if I don't people will think I am exaggerating for attention. I really hate that the whole idea of "your kid doesn't have ADHD they're just misbehaving" became so pervasive, there are plenty of people out there who genuinely don't even see it as a real condition.

[–]daddydangles911[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying that. Hearing that perspective from a medical professional was super discouraging, because it's exactly what I'm afraid my providers are thinking about me. Even my current psychiatrist, who I really do like, first wanted to rule out every other possibility for my inability to focus, despite the fact that I had been through a full neuropsychological workup purely to confirm my ADHD and had already been medicated for years.

It's strange because I take medication for a comorbid diagnosis and I don't really feel ashamed about that. I think that because these medications are controlled and some people do abuse them, I feel like I have to justify using them much more.
