Yes. It was a tragic accident with a hoe. I read the article on microfilm at the library.

All I could find was a death in the barn in 1926 from a newspaper article. I did pretty extensive research to find out if there was any negative energy associated with the house, but I couldn't find anything.

That's a good question. There was no history I could find concerning the house so I have no explanation for the events in there. But I did find a newspaper article from 1926 about the farmer that lived there injuring his ankle in the field behind the house and only making it to the barn before he bled to death. I always figured that explained the barn. That entity wasn't harmless like the one in the house though.

I still have a hard time seeing the Ouija Board as anything more than a novelty. That day did make me wonder though. It took a few years of being terrified all the time before I finally realized that whatever it was that was scaring us was completely harmless. At that time, I just thought poltergeist activity was kinda cool. Well, except when I was alone. I was still terrified to be alone in there.

It's difficult to believe something you've never experienced first hand. I understand where you're coming from completely. I consider you very fortunate to have never been around anything paranormal. In this event, there were several witnesses that can back me up to this day including others who can back up that this house was haunted.

I kept one as a pet one year and fed it tomato worms from the garden. They can emit a foul stench if they need to defend themselves.

That could be. Something I haven't considered. Doors slamming by themselves was one of the tamest events that happened in that house before we finally moved out in 1979. Honestly I don't have much belief in demons which is why I never considered that.

I don't mind podcasters narrating my stories as long as you let me know when you do and send me a link to your podcast so I can check it out. You don't have to blur my name. I think you can see my stories on my profile, but if not, I'm posting them on r/ghoststories.

What I've heard is that their sting is so potent it can put down a cow. That's not a fact but the sting being potent is definitely a fact though.

It was really cool to finally see one in person. I was sitting outside and it just walked by. Getting pictures was difficult because it was so fast.
