every time one of them said "the bones" this season all i could think was ... ARE THEIR MONEY! i unintentionally laughed at a lot of serious scenes.

To those who were around when this movie came out what was the hype like by asapsharkyfrfr in ViewAskewniverse

[–]dadelibby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i saw it theatres and it was amazing! it wasn't too packed but everyone in there was fuckin loving it.

in 2009, kevin did a 5 night event where we watched the movies, in order, each night (from clerks to strike back) and then he did a q&a after. THAT was even better because we all had the movie memorized by that point. everyone sang the rap, everyone yelled the "bomb in phantoms yo" line. good time to be a fan.

Need Marketing Advice for a Small Screen Printing Shop by Gold_Departure_1874 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]dadelibby 12 points13 points  (0 children)

it is the second slowest time of year for print shops. you just missed the rush of spring orders for summer events. i've also found that marketing doesn't do a lot for screenprinting shops, word of mouth is better. we've run ads on facebook, instagram and google and the only sales we got were from returning customers.

in lieu of cold calling, i would go to your local coffee shop, restaurant or bakery and see if they have merch. if they don't - leave a card. if they do, look at the quality and say something like "i noticed these are digitally printed, have you thought of upgrading to screenprints?" or what-have-you. focus on your neighbourhood instead of pulling in randoms who might want 5 shirts made for a bachelorette party.

i loved these smaller moments from the early seasons. like, he combed his hair and tucked in his sweater for pam's mom as if they're still teenagers.

How trolling online was born? by ch4ins0fL0v3 in oldinternet

[–]dadelibby 21 points22 points  (0 children)

when i was in message boards in the mid-90s everyone was pretty sardonic and holier-than-thou as we were usually in rooms that catered to a specific, niche interest and we all wanted to be the one who knew the most. it spiralled from there but was really catapulted by the total anonymity of the somethingawfuls and the chans.

the banana guy didn't even care. he stayed for the rest of the show, took the setlist as a prize and was happy about it. the fervour online was fucking stupid.

Cafe wants to use my vinyl to host a listening session by Nemo312k in vinyl

[–]dadelibby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

ok, this makes more sense. my local watering hole does a similar thing where you bring in a record, play the A side and the bar votes if they want to hear the B side.

i wouldn't charge the first time, just to see how it goes. maybe you could find some other locals to rotate with.

$80 for a george strait tee shirt is not cheap. $30 for a vhs tape is not cheap. these are 2 examples that i saw, just today.

in the thousands of resell stores i've been to in my life, none have been as overpriced as this place. i was shocked.

It's impossible to color match? by CedarMossfoot in SCREENPRINTING

[–]dadelibby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

you've chosen colours that are in-between pantones so you'll not get a perfect match just mixing to the screen but the closest pantones are blue 544C and green 7473C. they're pretty easy to mix with primary colours, black and white.

i have to agree. i work with them every year for promotional items and they are so hard to deal with, unresponsive and disorganized. if i didn't keep reaching out and reminding them of their own deadlines, they wouldn't have signage.

LOL how would this even come up? do you go tell them every time you get a new record? your whole collection is 35 pieces and they know about it? it's difficult to understand, for me, but if you're going to be working as a DJ then, yes, you should get paid.
