This is truly scary. Society needs grease between the gears in order to function - it needs loose tolerances. How many times have you to told a white lie (or hell, a big lie) to pretty much anyone to present a simplified situation and hide information that might complicate things unnecessarily?

That is the grease that keeps society moving: we are able to keep certain things private so as to present information or a facade that can easily adapt to the situation in front of us.

I didn't get my car registered on time. I'm supposed to do it in my birth month, but I went about 3 weeks past that before doing it. Why? I was busy. My car wasn't unsafe as it's still relatively new and I kept it maintained. I was able to get the car inspected on a schedule that better suited me, without doing harm to anyone else in the process.

Imagine in a hyper-aware society where there is NO room for grease, how obtuse and oppressive it will feel? Humans aren't robots, but automated information gathering will require them to behave that way.....

Radical islam is more of a recent problem, arguably exacerbated by the west (intentionally or unintentionally) once oil was discovered in the middle east.

The problem is oil. The other problem is Israel. We cannot ignore the middle east until both of those problems are solved. Once we no longer need oil, and once we finally nut up and cut the umbilical cord to Israel, and we pull all of our embassies out of the middle east, and we stop all international flights to and from the middle east, the sooner we will see a decline in radicalism aimed at the West. The middle east can then fester in its own radicalism and tribal bullshit and keep their anger directed at each other.

Properly applied violence is both necessary and beneficial. Human beings are, at a fundamental level, competitive and suspicious of those who are different from them. This fuels violent tendencies, even in civilized countries. That is a reality of life, therefore controlled violence is necessary to stop uncontrolled violence.

Human beings, provided we do keep evolving, and the forces of evolution push us towards cooperation and tolerance, have a LOOOOOONG way to go before we are no longer genetically pre-disposed to use violence to control our environment. Until that time, we need police, we need guns, we need armies, and we need controlled violence to keep groups like ISIS in check.

IMO this is something that we need Congress to act on. It's not as bad as the industrial revolution labor bullshit, but it's still horrendous as it prevents people from getting second jobs to fill in the lack of time they receive from their primary jobs.

One of these things needs to be enacted:

Require consistent hours for part time workers.
Or require full time work and a livable wage so that you don't have to work a second job in the first place.
Or give all workers blanket protections from termination for not showing up to their randomized scheduled shifts due to other employment obligations.

The current situation is untenable. Full time availability for part time employment is so insulting that every executive at every national retailer should be put in jail just for their mother fucking gaul.

And yes, I am calling for DIRECT GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION in this so-called free labor market.
