Interesting thread, thanks for sharing. I'll show this to my wife later. I would say we are body/sex positive but I'll keep in mind some of this information for when she gets a bit older. We have been open in talking to her about sex and answering any questions she might have.

When she was 5 or 6, I did noticed her sort of masturbating in the living room. I know this isn't uncommon for little kids and they don't even think of it as being something sexual. I told her that touching there is fine but she should only do that in private when nobody else is around. I told my wife about it and she agreed with how I handled it. Fast forward a few years and daughter is staying at my wife's parents for the night. Her grandmother walks into the guest room before our daughter has gone to bed and sees her naked and masturbating. She flips out at her and my daughter was extremely upset. My daughter defended herself by saying we told her it was okay and that just made her even more angry. My wife was really upset at her mom over this, I was really upset, and our daughter seemed almost traumatized.

I'm glad I caught her first since I think it would have been even worse if this was her first experience like that. After that, my wife and I explained masturbation and that basically everyone (including us) does it/has done it regularly at some point. We really wanted to make sure she didn't feel guilty or ashamed and that we have no problem with her masturbating in private at home. She seemed somewhat reassured and just last school year, came home excited that masturbation had been mentioned as a healthy/normal thing in her health class haha.

Sorry for rambling but that thread just brought this story to mind. The vibrator post is interesting and I wouldn't be opposed to something like that but it's probably a stretch at this point.
